Is my 11/29-12/2 coastal storm prediction still on
Made it about 3 weeks ago. For third time this year models have gone form modest storm to biggie, even satellite is starting to look dynamic, I think Friday night into Saturday is going to be interesting for Ohio Vally/Mid atlantic and northeast.

New England
Should be mostly rain in New England except maybe a period snow and sleet early on for northern Maine. Colder weekend in store for us with snow showers and squalls in central and northern New England mountains. As of last nite our local forecasters are bringing milder air back for next week. and the beat goes on and on........

System's evolution is it appears strung out, with area of energy headed into eastern great lakes and a narrow but lengthy moderate-heavy rain area extending from va/nc border down into the gulf. Second area looks to train from sw to ne so whoever is in it gets 1+ but it is narrow along lines of Dulles could get a lot and BWI very little or vice versa. Generally these "stringy" type systems do not have big effect on DC metro but if in the target area it allows more time for the cold air to filter in. Finally, have to look and see if any action develops off coast as things progress. Saturday looks very cool for DCA, highs 43-45.

Severe Weather Alert from the National Weather Service
...SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BALTIMORE MD/WASHINGTON DC 249 PM EST FRI NOV 28 2003
... A QUICK NON ACCUMULATING SNOW SQUALL POSSIBLE LATE THIS EVENING...
A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND THIS EVENING. THE FRONT WILL BRING AN END TO OUR RAIN SHOWERS AND WILL USHER IN BLUSTERY COLD WINDS FROM THE NORTHWEST. AS THE COLD AIR MOVES IN... TEMPERATURES WILL DROP QUICKLY INTO THE 40S THIS EVENING.
A FEW HOURS LATER... ONE LAST LINE OF PRECIPITATION WILL LIKELY FORM AND MOVE THROUGH THE AREA LATE THIS EVENING. THIS BAND WILL BE QUICK IN DURATION... LASTING LESS THAN AN HOUR... AND WILL LIKELY FALL AS SNOW. THE SNOW COULD EVEN BE HEAVY FOR A BRIEF TIME.
HOWEVER... SINCE THE TEMPERATURE WILL BE WELL ABOVE FREEZING AND THE GROUND TEMPERATURE WILL BE IN THE 50S... NO SNOW WILL ACCUMULATE. THIS WOULD BE A SCENIC SEASONAL SNOW THAT FALLS AND IMMEDIATELY MELTS.
AGAIN... NO SNOW ACCUMULATION OR ICING IS EXPECTED TONIGHT....
Right now it's really nice outside....................60 degrees, with 58-degree dewpoints........The weather feels very OBX right now, if only an OBX analog...........I really don't want that cold front........I'd rather enjoy my nice 60/58 T/D spread.........but if it really MUST snow..............I guess that's okay.........but bring back my warm weather soon please!!!
