Spring Flowers peaking out.
I have noticed as of late that the spring flowers have actually started to peak out liek they are confused on which season we are in. Even the Leaves have held on longer on the tree's but for todays storms and wind they still would be mostly in the tree's and not on the ground. We can only see if this is a sort of the new norm here or not. But it has me worried in middle Fall to see Spring Flowers tryign to get going.

Now that's amazing....confusions to the season...
Hi everyone. Remember Jim???? hehehe. Yea it's been an amazing streak of warm temperatures. 80 degrees plus in Maryland for 4 days straight for daytime highs. I don't remember the last time that happened. I enjoyed it while it lasted. Big changes are expected between now and the upcoming weekend with much colder temperatures coming up. I'm talking about 44 for a high Sunday with a low Monday am of just 27 in central Maryland. Wow that's brrrrrr!!! We'll be shivering in that midwestern chill. So Jacki and everyone else who are from the midwest, don't feel alone. I'll feel what you're feeling coming up this weekend. Stay warm ya all!!! Old man winter definitely has something up it's sleeve.

STILL COLD
It'll feel like it's the middle of December this weekend in many cases. With highs in the upper 40s and lows in the upper 20s, that's pretty close to what we see in early to mid December on average. Coldest time of year being in January, which is obvious.
Stay warm everyone, definitely stay warm Jacki!!

Yes JIM is right this weekend bundle up or go outside and bottle some of this amazing warmth and open it this weekend inside to warm up LOL. Yes it will be the coldest and finally it will force any warmth that may build to be only modified this time around no near 80 but low 70's maybe if so. But looks to be more normal from this weekend on out with temps wise. But did notice above normal on precip over the next 16 days.
Jacki bundle up get a fleece blanket. Something nice and warm and sweet like you.

While I never mowed the lawn in Dec. 2001, it was growing!! It was as green as can be with some flowers around as well. It was amazing to be going outside in shorts with temps in the upper 60s in Dec. Who would have ever thought Michigan would have flowers growing and green grass in Dec? You know what bothers me about that though? It takes more than just warmth to grow the lawn. The lawn needs sunlight. In Dec. the sun rises here just after 8AM and sets around 4:50PM. How is that enough sunlight to grow the lawn? We have gotten some warm weather in the past in Feb and Mar. A few years ago we hit 81in the end of Feb. Mar often brings warm days but the grass NEVER starts growing here until April, regardless of warmth. I have attributed this to the amount of sunlight. Now, how in the world can it grow in Dec with such little sunlight? I just wonder if the reason for the grass growing was a big reason for such mild weather? i.e the sun?

Nov and Dec are the cloudiest months around here but that is largely due to lake effect clouds. Since the temps were so warm in the Fall of 2001, there were no lake effect clouds. There was actually lots of sunshine.

Yes, mowing your lawn in late November or December is ridiculous - especially with the limited sun. For whatever reason, the grass kept growing beyond early November (which is when it typically stops growing in my area). I actually had to avoid Christmas light wires and extension cords while I was mowing so late in 2001, because I had put up my outdoor Christmas lights and decorations the week before.

Okay everyone, I really got bitten BAD by the OBX warm weather bug.
I LOVE 81/65 TD spreads A LOT.
If this winter turns out like 2001-2002 it is okay with me. In Jan 2002 we had a SE heat ridge, and with the QBO East orientation this season it looks to me as if this winter may be warmer than in 2001-2002.
I would not mind 80 degree days in December and January and February. So what if I have to mow the lawn in the winter? Folks down in Florida do that all the time!
Bring on the warm weather. I love it. The snow can wait til next winter (2004-2005).
I just LOVE my 81/65 OBX TD Spreads. Having 75 degree weather in the house is just SOOOOOO Nice!!!!!!!!!
