Predict the date of your first measurable snowfall

#1 Postby JCT777 » Thu Sep 25, 2003 12:18 pm

Assuming you live somewhere that gets snow most years, when do you think the first snowfall of at least 1 inch will occur in your area this fall/winter?

I will say December 8 for Spring Mount, PA.

LMAO!!!!! I'm sorry, I don't mean to laugh!

Well, if you would have just limited it to first flakes, I would say late October, but an inch or more? I am going to have to say probably January 1, we have only gotten traces before the new year in the past few years! Note to all: This is just an uneducated guess for fun! :D

I like this.
Here's my updated forecast based on a fascinatingly complex formula, which I will not divulge, and which carries with it a 90 percent chance of vague success.

Fort Kent: 4:38am October 20th.

A bit of a challenge for me, as I'm living in a new area that I'm not all that familiar with. But I'll take a stab at the closest official reporting station:

Poughkeepsie, NY: November 3

Hmm, considering New Years will be 3 years with no measurable snow, this is gonna be tough.

First Flakes-November 30
First Measureable Snow-January 11
First Major Snow (4+) Not this winter
