Nothing happening here in AUS except for it being dark and cold. A little spot of drizzle here and there. Temps however are at or below freezing now in the areas outside of AUS and in the northern parts of the city.

The changeover to sleet has occurred. Already have over 1/10" of the white stuff coating everything here.

Gainesville reporting light snow, so that changeover may turn into snow for you folks up near the Big D.
I'm jealous.

Not sure if the yellow is heavier freezing rain, or sleet, or what,

At 8:38, Alliance up by Texas Motor Speedway was reporting freezing drizzle, so I don't know.

Amounts have been light so far.

We are getting some freezing rain here, with some sleet mixed in, at the moment. It looks like we might have sleet/freezing rain moving through for the next few hours. I hope for snow (even snow flurries), but it might not occur as I don't think the atmospheric column will cool enough.

I will probably update later as the NWS has just updated with this:

LARGE AREA OF SLEET...MODERATE TO HEAVY AT TIMES...WILL FALL
NORTH OF A COMANCHE TO WAXAHACHIE...SULPHUR SPRINGS LINE THROUGH
MIDNIGHT. SLEET ACCUMULATIONS UP TO 1/2 INCH WILL COVER ROADS
QUICKLY...MAKING THEM VERY SLICK AND DANGEROUS FOR THE REST OF
TONIGHT. AS THE AREA OF SLEET MOVES ACROSS THE METROPLEX AND INTO
THE NORTHEAST COUNTIES LATER TONIGHT

My sister in Lewisville says she doesn't see anything yet. It's pretty dark though and she's just looking through the window. Her two temp gauges are both registering just over freezing.

My mom says she can hear something - either frozen rain or sleet but she's not going to go look! She's near Plano.

Yellow over my area is light rain that is freezing on contact with elevated surfaces. My trees are glistening with frozen drops hanging from the leaves.

Plenty of frozen rain and sleet here in The Colony/Frisco area in Denton County. Nice accumulations of thick ice patches starting to show up in the grass.

I'm in the yellow too. It's straight up sleet here.

Dominos just delivered a pizza to my downstairs neighbor....I asked the guy how business was going tonight. He told me his manager isn't letting them refuse any runs..... :x If the delivery driver feels that conditions are too unsafe to drive any longer, then he should not have to take that delivery.

Today's my day off, but the Pizza Hut I work at stopped taking delivery orders over an hour ago. This has me really angry. The roads are already coated with sleet and it's still coming down.

Heavy sleet in Glen Rose. I'm staying here tonight after working today, instead of making the trek back to D/FW.

Driving on several inches of snow is one thing. Driving on ice is quite another. I can deal with snow. Not only is ice dangerous to drive on its dangerous to walk on and I will be damned if im slipping on ice and busting my :moon: to deliver a pizza.

Still dry here in H-town.

Drizzle and 33ºF in AUS (Bergstrom), where I recall one or two fairly minor ice storms. North wind 20 mph and dewpoint of 28ºF, already freezing at ATT, bridges/overpasses may get a little slick in next hour or two...

I think especially of the elevated lanes of I-35...

I know ice isn't happening at my house, but even a quarter inch liquid precip would be much appreciated here.

According to http://www.wfaa.com/weather/radars/northtexas/animated/ I ought to be entering the snowy portion of this storm soon. The sleet has become much lighter and the wind has shifted to the NNW. I can actually open my south-facing window here and not get so much as a chill. I'm not seeing any snowflakes yet.
