Are they also putting snow in the WSW for Fort Worth and Dallas? The WSW areas have mostly less sleet and about the same ice precip expectations as the WWA areas on the NWS FWD website

It will be hard for snow to form with precip starting in the air near 50 degrees above D-FW at 5000-6000 ft above the surface. The rain would fall into a sub-freezing layer and reach the ground as sleet or freezing rain.

I was just wondering why there's more precip in WWA areas rather than in the WSW areas. I know snow's basically impossible to form right now since the warm air's trapped above the surface so I was confused as to why WWA areas have more sleet and FZRA.

Summer's for hibernation, Winter’s my vacation

Don't use my posts as forecast, I'm a complete meteorology noob! I just like cold weather, alright?

All observations I post are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

That NWS snippet posted earlier appears to exactly right in regards to the precip drying out (per radar) in the DFW area. At least the roads should be better for those trying to get home after work with a break in the precip.

Here in Denton at the UNT campus I see a fine mist to shower outside my office window. Cars have a glaze again.......

It was drying out although there is a band over the Fort Worth area. That was an interesting writeup by them. Not looking forward to the oak trees bending toward the ground again. Annoying zr

Heard Thunder #6, it was louder than the previous 3, likely from a strong strike, or a Positive strike.

It's been heavy freezing drizzle here at the house for past 30 min or so, very pronounced glaze on everything including the main street. Also noticing the cloud deck has lowered, exactly what the NWO FTW stated in their last update.

Looking at radar echoes there seems to be a rather large area of freezing drizzle moving across the immediate DFW area moving SW to NE with heavier bands mixed in.

24F at the airport, that misting is mixing with sleet and snow grains. Glazing and there's definitely black ice. Those bridges.
