gpsnowman wrote:Not that I can confirm, but from my third floor porch( wouldn't call it a balcony), looking north I can see a lower cloud deck with something falling in the sky, similar to watching a rain storm from a distance. Probably a county up from Dallas; Denton more than likely.
I normally do not quote myself, but the clouds and precip I saw earlier from my porch look to be giving way to clear skies with the sunset coming. Quick hitter, sayonara, beunos noches, goodnight.

Won't happen, the cold dry air is coming in fast, and basically drying out the column. But the 18Z has us getting snow in 384 hours, so there's that.

Well, if you can't trust the 384hr panel of the GFS then what can you trust?

My weather app is showing a 30% chance of flurries for the next hour...but that's definitely not happening because the sun is out.

I'd start at the FTW NWS office, they magnified our frustrations with one of the worst forecasts I've seen in awhile from them

Re: Texas Winter 2017-2018
Now that that's over with.
The 12z EPS continues the trend of backing off of the "torch weekend" for the 19th - 21st. It was showing temps pushing 70 each day that weekend and is now down to 56, 64, & 59 for highs. It is also rather "snowy" looking the 17 & 18th but it's hard to put any stock in that, given that the Euro & EPS seems to have a high qpf bias in the 7 to 10 day range since the last update.

If the precip regens east of Dallas then we will have an epic coup by the Tech model. Lets see, the HRRR shows regen also but as sleet.
