I got woken up by the sound of heavy rain and around 25 mph wind gusts.

So are temps colder than forecasted? I'm already at 39, the freezing line looks to be in Texas?

The front is moving a bit faster than forecast, which is why the temps are lower this hour. The air isn't necessarily colder as a whole, OU is just farther behind the front.

Re: Texas Winter 2018-2019
It was 69 and muggy when I left house this morning around 6:55.
When I was driving to work, wind picked up. Trash blowing around. I saw the line of dark, billowy clouds along the front. Got some sprinkles.
When I got to work at 7:30, the wind was whipping and it was POURING, about 65. I got SOAKED, even with my umbrella, walking to the door.lol Feels a lot better! No more stagnant, gross air mass.

38F at DFW and not likely warming up much today. Faux spring the past few days is over.

this map is way overdone looking at the precip maps but still

Essentially every Euro EPS member shows some version of this for DFW with a number of members actually showing a significant event. The timing looks good with precipitation coming late night or early morning and FWD has lowered low temps for parts of DFW down to near freezing. So timing looks good, temps are trending in the right direction, but 850s warm as precipitation comes into the area... borderline event but could be something with the right timing.

Another quick note on this, the SREF is now up to a mean of nearly 0.5" of snow for DFW but there is a snow cluster and a no snow cluster. The SREF keeps OKC below freezing the next couple of days, so it wouldn't be a huge stretch for that cold to sneak farther south and keep portions of N. Texas colder than the current forecast.

Temps have fallen from the mid 70s to mid 50s here. Rainfall totals in my area are 0.25-0.75". NWS has added mixed precip to my Fri night forecast.

Yeah but majority of those members don't show anything at all....this is a pretty intriguing event though with mean SREF temps around 34-35 Saturday morning, much colder than the globals

Home Depot has tomato plants out already. Winter is over.
Frontal passage around 7:30 this morning in Round Rock.....short period of rain currently 63 degrees. Looking forward to a pellet or two tomorrow, might be the only frozen precipitation we see this year.

Some Euro members have 6+" spots though many are just light. Some keep this further south and temps vary. Very interesting set up that will surely distract me from my work today.

Yep, it is very puzzling to say the least...It's been a long time since I've seen the ENS members this aggressive and we're not talking 10 days out either, it's less than 48 hrs. FW NWS better be on their A game or this could catch a lot of people off guard with their forecast!!

Re: Texas Winter 2018-2019

What an intriguing set up not only for you Metroplexers but for us here in the Austin area. Seems like it could be one of those events which overachieves OR one that never materializes!

If Bastardi is right, we're going to get slammed with sleet tomorrow. The Euro has consistently shown at least *some* sleet. Sounds like the models all underestimated the cold air to our north. This should be interesting to watch unfold.
