My wife had -11F at home, but I was away from home and in Denver where it was officially +1F (probably warmer downtown, but I didn't bring a thermometer). I should have brought the shorts. :D

It was 26F this morning, but it looks like we are about to break that this evening. It is already down to 27F here at 9pm, and it looks like upper teens are very possible by tomorrow morning. Brr.

UPDATE: Down to 23F (-5C) now at 11:20pm.

My wife had -15F at the house this morning. Chilly, but not unusual for December.

It was really cold in the mountains though, at least if you count windchill.

I climbed Colorado Mines Peak (12,497 feet) today and the wind was screaming across the Continental Divide. On the summit, I recorded the temperature at -4F and estimated the winds at 30-50 mph on the upper slopes, which would put the windchill at -37F (-61F on the old windchill chart!). Here is a photo I took from the summit:

Kinda thought ya'll would say that. (My Mom always said be careful what you wish for)

Tomorrow temps, including windchill, are expected to hit -32 degree Celsius = -25.6 degree Fahrenheit.

Trust me as hardy as you folks think your plants are they are really semi-tropical when facing the above temps.

Trust me, I know. The tropicals are feeling the stress. Already seeing freeze burns in the area. :(

I'm even thinking of azaleas etc. There are so many varieties and some are only hardy to zone 8/9 and some are somewhat hardy to my zone (they too will croak without decent snow cover)..........but I doubt any zone 3 azaleas were sold way down there.

Ever since Saskatchewan had a summer (2007) where it hit 120 F (temperature and dew point combined) I believe just about anything can happen (you folks truly could get, with the right conditions, a true taste of the Arctic).

Just no 83 or 89 events please. Some say we are overdue, but this El Nino Pattern is a tough one for "bitter cold". But this "pattern" seems just a bit different. :double: :cheesy:
