snow_wizzard,

Good to hear that we may have even more wild weather in the coming days, per what you explained on the last page. I can't wait! 8-)

Also, I was wondering where Palmer is? Past Ravensdale? Are there any web sites about it?

Thanks. :)

Snow_Wizzard... I don't know about that. I think our location will still be favored. There are so many times when the PSCZ gets down to I-90 and then stops. Palmer may be higher than Covington but still too far south.

And then in patterns when the southern areas are favored we still get all the action.

More important than weather though... is convenience. North Bend is so accessible to all of Seattle and the mountains. No two-lane roads or stoplights.

I have never been there... but I doubt that Palmer has much in the way of modern shopping or food outlets either.

Just some observations.

If you're going to move you should move out here!!

Yeah TT I don't think you'll be able to convice Snowwizzard to move anywhere but there. He has convinced me that Palmer would be an awesome place to experience a great winter... Between 1940 and 1975 i think he said, they average like 50 inches of snow a winter.... It is an awesome place to be i hear if you like lots of snow... They get a good east wind sort of like Bellingham gets the fraser winds that keeps them ALOT colder than everyone else during cold spells... And for being in the public, i would want to be as far away from the city life as possible... I think Palmer is a good spot...

To each their own. I am thinking there might be some real "interesting" people living up there in the remote woods. I just like having a little surburbia around to keep me sane.

At 1,100 feet... I am sure our location was very snowy back then as well. Probably more so.

Well, I just took a look to see where exactly Palmer is and it is just past Ravensdale by a few miles. Not out in the boonies by any means, in fact it is fairly close to both Black Diamond and Enumclaw, so you would have the convience of shopping just a few miles away.

Now if you want a place out in the middle of nowhere, along with some "questionable" neighbors, you should try our place up on Mt. Hood in Oregon. We have several starnge neighbors, one of which battled us with the county for a few feet of land that originally was his, but had been taken and fenced by the people who lived in our cabin before we lived there. He even called the police on my grandmother who is in her 80's.

He has no respect, and we consider him a "mountain man", (one who enjoys solitary life).

Yeah TT I guess you could go either way there... I don't think think North Bend was as snowy back then as Palmer... You should check the records on that...

That picture of Snoqualmie was AWESOME. I would love to see more of those or find out where they came from. I will try to post some of Mount Baker on here... How do i put it on here?

Heck, Palmer even has their own State Park ( Kanaskat-Palmer State Park), which is a 320-acre camping park on a small, low plateau in a natural forest setting. The park has two miles of shorelines on the Green River.

Some History of Palmer:

The area around Kanaskat-Palmer and the Green River Gorge is abundant with mining history. The area is still mined for coal, as it has been for many years. Nearby Flaming Geyser gets its methane flame from a coal seam. Also mined locally was cinnabar, the base ore for mercury.

Sounds like a nice place to me. 8-)

Speeking of strange people and disrespect... My dad has lived in the house we live in now for 20 years and until 1993 there was our house and one other old house in the neighborhood. In 1997 a ladie named AZOM built a HUGE house about 200 feet from us and the house totally didn't fit the foresty type of neighborhood. She moved up from California and was a complete RECK OF A NEIGHBOR... She called the cops on my sister when she was 3 years old for throwing rocks in her yard. She called the cops on me and my other neighbor kid for riding my 4 wheeler in the snow on MY PROPERTY at 7:00PM on a friday night for too much noise too late at night... She called the cops on me 2 days before christmas in 1998 when it was REALLY REALLY COLD and the driveways were covered with frost... I road my quad on the frost around the whole neighborhood and it compacted the frost into a really slick layer of ice... she had a christmas party and cars were sliding everywhere... I LOVED IT... I could get pictures of my neighborhood on here if someone told me how to... its a pretty nice place... I have some before and after photos of the area.

Brennan,

You can post pictures on this forum by first hosting the pictures. I normally use ImageShack (http://imageshack.us/) because it is free and is fairly quick.

Once you have the picture hosted, you will see a "URL", copy and paste that URL into a regular post on this forum, and your all set. :)
