You'll be fine I'm sure. 20-30mph is hardly wind advisory to you Texan . Spring breeze. Unless you've acclimated to the conditions up there. You've been in 40-60mph wind driven rain squall lines.

Seriously though I hope it trends east, Chicago has seen enough snow for the winter they shouldn't be having.

Seriously though I hope it trends east, Chicago has seen enough snow for the winter they shouldn't be having.

I think the possibility is actually higher winds, if mixing occurs we could have blizzard level winds with rain. Down Town Chicago it's self actually hasn't seen a lot of snow, 10 miles NW of them got a big storm in November. I'd rather the storm hit Chicago and miss me then hit DC again and miss me.

The GFS does have backend snow falling with 40 mph wind gusts, that would be a fun consolation prize.

This is probably the best aspect of it all. Some folks in the eastern half of the state will get their entire Feb rain total with this one storm.



It will definitely "feel" more like winter than the spring conditions we have been used to the past couple of weeks. Brisk NW winds and rain 40s vs 70s and sunny. EPS (ensembles) bunch looks very wet through March, consensus is around 5-6" the next 45 days some members more for DFW. Same for Austin and Houston. Whatever drought developed will likely be cleared out...again. Though so far development has been in central Texas, elsewhere has been abnormally dry.

I count 7 out of 21 with some snow through 264 hours.

Euro has some wet snow in the northeastern counties (Greenville, bonham) etc

NAM sure is trending hard our direction Tuesday evening. Not sure there is quite enough cold available to get snow to make it to the surface but the low is wrapping up pretty good by then and we are looking for a hail Mary at this point.

The euro buries a lot of Oklahoma and at least according to the snow map on accuwxpro has some accumulation in the red river counties

I am happy that we finally have even a chance to dream of winter again. I know I had high hopes for this winter, but this El Nino has managed to trump any positive factors we had.

Trend is your friend. It's digging a lot further south each run. We need some surface cold! Any kind of HP up front would be welcome.

34-36 in Oklahoma with the heavy snow while 35-38F in DFW and light rain...

The 12Z EC snowfall map for north TX is below. I plotted snow starting at 1/2" in half-inch increments. More significant, however, is the first image below. I was doing some weeding around my azaleas today and was astonished to see that it is in full bloom! Normally, azaleas bloom in late March or early April. I've never heard of them blooming in February.

Yes but the gfs says no and doesn't even have snow in Oklahoma so while there is an encouraging trend I'm not getting my hopes up.
