Re: Texas Winter 2020-2021
Its all about the positioning of the Bermuda high on where the storm develops. If it is stronger then we will see a storm positioned over Texas and stall with the cold air catching on. If it is weaker then the storm will shove it out and outrun the cold air with only rain for yall. If the storm is farther East and strong, then significant amounts of snow are possible for the southeast. The Plains and the North East will get snow regardless. Also the stronger the Greenland high, the more cold air is squeezed south towards yall. That looks to be very strong right now with large low pressure systems (The European windstorms) keeping it there and allowing it to build. All in all this could bring around at least an inch across a wide swath of the great plains including the central swath of Texas to perhaps South Dakota. This is the most likely scenario; however, I will be looking for signs that may push the storm East to me.

Weather geek and a storm spotter in West Austin. Not a degreed meteorologist. Big snow fan. Love rain and cold! Despise heat!

GFS usually picks up these snowstorms within 5 days. That’s how it worked for Oklahoma’s snowstorms. If the GFS starts to pick it up in the next 24 hours, I’d say NYE has some legitimacy.

I wonder how FWD handles this? Mention it in discussion, low pops NE and punt to the day shift?

Latest 6Z Euro ENS just got much stronger with the ULL...at this rate, this axis of the heaviest snow will end up across the panhandle. Really impressive storm appears likely somewhere across the southern plains attm

NAM also trending towards Euro suite...GFS is playing catch up

Just looked at the sounding for Houston on NYE. GFS has green for precip, but that would be snow falling out of the sky.
I'm in AZ with family currently and heading to CO to hit the slopes. Crossing my fingers for you guys.

Re: Texas Winter 2020-2021
Appears that a dual storm will form with the first bringing snow in North Texas and the plains with the second drawing in cold air to bring snow to South East Texas.
This is the storm y´
all have been waiting for.
