I go on record with 57, it's over for Central Texas and points south and east.

I think it's over for along the central parts along the red river as well. Forecasts don't look good. Maybe the northern panhandle but it doesn't look good for anywhere else.

I'm with the bluetags ... winter is over for much of Texas. Stick a fork in it. It's done. In fact, it's been done for awhile ... it's burnt.

This one will go down as perhaps THE worst and, if not, easily one of the three worst "winter" seasons in Texas.

It's the worst since this board has existed. 2011-2012 was colder, and despite the lack of snow that year it was at least very wet.

Putting it in a local perspective, Camp Mabry (KATT) has had only five freezes this winter season. And they really weren't much to speak of. We hit 31 one time and 32 four times. That is it. The temperature has not dipped below 31 degrees. On average, Austin has 19 days where the temp dips below 31 ... this season, only ONE.

I am reluctant to use the airport readings because it sits in a river valley and does have low temps much lower than the bulk of metropolitan Austin.

Had one of those storms last night where 10 miles NW of me had nothing, I got somewhere around 3-5 inches here. I've had about 6-10 inches over the last week, though none of it was on the ground all at once. Looks like all the snow will melt today, I will have a few more chances at snow but it looks like the PNA will just push it all for the East Coast's benefit.

Winter that year was decent. Feb super bowl blast. The only comparable one to this one in recent memory is 1999-2000. A lot of "not been below x temperature" records will fall in many places this winter for lack of cold.

For example at DFW no winter has ever failed to dip below 25F until this current one. Lowest reading this season is 27F. We have always had a day in which the high temp did not go above 40, has not yet to occur.

The good news is that the wavelengths begin to shorten as we approach the spring equinox so the pattern now does not produce the same weather next month.

As this is at least an hour of heavy lifting and strenuous labor, he is betting that Mother Nature has no late tricks in store for him related to winter weather. "She wouldn't do that to me," BGR proclaimed as he planned his evening work. "My winter cancel from a month ago came without consequence, so I'm confident that this move will be worthwhile as well."

I think what makes it worse is how all of the forecasts I saw before winter hyped it up so much. I figured this would be the year of cold, snow and ice.

That winter was great, and the only one in recent memory that harkened back to the pre-90's style winters. I posted some stats, a couple of pages back, about February 2011.... but the whole winter was below average temp. wise.

As for this winter, it's the first I can personally remember not seeing a snowflake or sleet pellet. I *might* have seen some in the headlights back in the early December event... but wasn't sure.

We got torched this winter, plain and simple, with everything getting shunted east.

My nearest neighbor is an old rancher and farmer and I was talking with him about the weather earlier and about starting my seeds this weekend. He said you would be a fool to start them this early. "Winter ain't over" were his words. I find it hard to believe seeing the long range forecasts but it's hard to argue the point with a man that has made his living, for no telling how long, based on the weather every year.

Only 2 light freezes in north Houston this January (32F both times). Didn't kill my bananas. Really enjoying the upper 70s to 80 degrees in February.
