NNNNOOOOO!!!!!!! :cold: :double: :froze: Please tell me you are :spam: :spam: :spam: this board!!!

My dad's entire hedge of Ligustrum plants died in that December 1989 freeze in San Antonio. I was there at the time. I think it got down to 6 degrees in San Antonio(?) and pipes froze and leaked.

The coldest it has been in late December since the late 1800’s came during the December 1989 arctic outbreak. On December 23, 1989 the low fell to 4 at Austin Mueller Airport, 6 at Austin Bergstrom, 6 at San Antonio, and to 10 at Del Rio. The low of 10 in Del Rio was an All Time Low at Del Rio from December 1905 to the present. The low of 4 at Austin Mueller Airport, 6 at Austin Bergstrom and 6 at San Antonio was the coldest for the month of December. Some other coldest lows around the area in December 1989 were as follows, Blanco 0 on December 23 and 24; Boerne 2 on December 23; Burnet -4 on December 23; Carrizo Springs 10 on December 23; Crystal City 11 on December 23; Fredericksburg 1 on December 23; Eagle Pass 12 on December 23; 2 miles north of Gonzales 4 on December 23; Johnson City 1 on December 23; 3 miles north northeast of Kerrville 0 on December 23; La Grange 3 on December 23; Llano -1 on December 23 and 24; 3 miles west of Lytle 6 on December 23; New Braunfels 2 on December 23; San Marcos 2 on December 23; and Uvalde Research Center 6 on December 23.

December 1989 brought a -1F to the DFW area. Our pool froze almost a foot deep and got a butt chewing from my father for breaking all the ice and cracking a bunch of pool tiles. Oops.

Here. We. Go. I know there is no precipitation with this "blue norther", but do you see this one in a line of really strong fronts coming from the source region?

Yeah the GFS seems to now have the coldest anomalies more east of Texas into the Deep South and Florida though it is still showing it getting quite cold across much of Texas with freezing conditions across the northern half.

This time of year we get freezes like it shows with 1030mb highs like yesterday so I have a hard time believing that air mass only produces mid 20s. My best guess right now is similar to the Canadian. I am not sure why the GFS wants to move it east with a -PNA.

12z GFS really backing off on temps for Texas next week. This makes two consecutive operational runs where it shunts coldest air to our northeast.

It will be back tonight. None of the GFS runs make any sense from a 500mb level either.

GFS keeps us chilly, but by no means cold like the Canadian and Euro.

We cold weather lovers have been burned before. I am skeptical like you.

The cold air is coming out of Western Canada. The GFS has lost it mind.

I think the Euro is the correct solution.

Th Canadian has us in the 30s from Wednesday post front through the end of the run on Monday morning. It shows a system to watch for next weekend, looks like a borderline freezing drizzle/overrunning type system with shallow cold air still around.

When is the next run of the Euro?

I believe it should run after lunchtime.
