Thanks for posting those stats, Lester. Wow, a hundred year record breaker in my area-Reagan National Airport.

We've done better than I expected here. The wind has been the driving force, with bands of both snow and high winds intermittently occurring. To my amazement, so far we have not lost power! Did notice Storm2K was busy, but need to share at times like these with guests. In general it seems the storm is creeping out of here: more light, less snow, and lower winds.

From the NWS in Sterling VA at 3 today:

.LONG TERM /SATURDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...

-- Changed Discussion --
SATURDAY...LOW PRESSURE DEVELOPS OFF THE FL COAST...PRECIP LOOKS TO
BE CONTAINED TO SE VA AND SOUTH...WOULD BE JUST A DRY COLD FRONT FOR
THE CWA...EXCEPT FOR SOME UPSLOPE SNOW OUT WEST.

MONDAY/PRESIDENTS DAY...AN UPPER SYSTEM CROSSES THE REGION SUNDAY
NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY WITH SUBSEQUENT COASTAL LOW DEVELOPMENT. WENT
WITH HIGH CHANCES AND TIMING BASED ON A BLEND OF 12Z GFS/00Z EURO.
UNCERTAINTY REGARDING P-TYPE...THOUGH MAJORITY OF THE AREA LOOKS TO
BE ALL SNOW...A MIX POSSIBLE DURING THE DAY MONDAY FOR I-95 AND
EAST...WENT WITH RAIN/SNOW FOR THAT AREA ATTM.

Almost whiteout.

Bent over by the weight of the snow.

Winter wonderland - before the wind could blow it all away. This was just as the storm started to crank up!

My manager at work called and the casino is shutting down the Administrative offices as well tomorrow. WHEW!

Governor Rendell of PA shutdown a series of major expressways in the state of PA at around 2 pm today. I-95 and the PA Turnpike were still open but I-83, I-81, I-76, I-476, the Vine Expressway that runs through Philadelphia all were shut down.

Also, Philadelphia as passed the all-time snowiest record set back in the 1995-1996 winter season of 65 inches. This is now the snowiest winter on record!

My father, who lives in Colorado in the Wet Mountain region (south-central part of the state) has only had 44 inches of snow so far.

Pittsburgh has broken its monthly snowfall record for the month of February, in only 10 days. The old record was 25.3 inches and they have had 27.6 inches through 2:15 this morning. The NWS office has picked up another 7 inches of snow today, so the monthly total stands around 35 inches or so. They are saying another system could come through on Saturday and a possible bigger system early next week. I just want this to end!

I lived in CT back in 95-96! I remember that winter we had like 90-100 Inches of snow that year. It snowed into Spring and even after Easter! This maybe the same. Dont be suprised!

I remember driving back to college in Vermont from Connecticut after Easter in 96, and driving in a massive snowstorm. Was not fun. Heavy wet snow sticking on everything. As we went further north, the snow got heavier in intensity.

Presidents' Day: A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

I can't take another snow storm. I'm starting to get cabin fever here. I can't even get into my own back yard!

I can't either.

The temperature high of 35 maybe the saving grace. We'll see.

Well I didn't make it into work yesterday but I'm here today. The main roads are ok but the side roads are a nightmare. National Guard is still in town and power is still out for thousands and thousands of people.

I hope that they can get that power on soon for everyone!

This is a time-lapse video of the blizzard in Washington DC. It's very cool. :)

Made it into work today. Roads were just about perfect. They've had a lot of practice this year.

Thanks for posting that somethingfunny. It is wonderful! To neat music too. I'm going to pass it along to some of my D.C. and beyond buddies! Wish I were so technically gifted.

I noticed that NWS Pittsburgh has raised the chance of snow to 70% on Monday into Tuesday, and the technician discussion mentions a chance of significant snowfall during this period. I have no idea where we will put any significant snowfall accumulation if we get this system.

DON'T say that!!

I'm trying to look at it this way - each subsequent snowfall is less in total. Maybe spring isn't too far away???

The Euro was showing a big storm at 216 hours, so who knows.
