No. As of now, Christmas looks to feature temperatures near or below the seasonal norms. It is highly unlikely that we will see any "warm" (bathing suit) weather during that period.

Thank God for the wind b/c the dew points are getting low, or else we'd be seeing a good freeze tonight.

You got that right Jason!! We're already at 39º here at the house. If that wind wasn't still howling and mixing it up we would have perfect radiational cooling going on and we would definitely see a freeze even inside the loop probably. We'll stil be in the low to mid 30's in th e morning. :cold: :froze:

It's already 37° here, but it feels more like 0° to me. Dang, that cold wind is brutal. The place where I was tonight is pretty open and it's always windier there than surrounding areas, and it was soooooooooo cold. I know we've been colder than this already this year, but this is the coldest that I've personally been, because of the wind chill. When I realized I had to get gas, my fingers tried crawling into my hands. Brrrrrr!

Too bad there's no snow!

LIving up here in Denver I had forgotten how cold low 30's with humidity and wind can feel. That is not to say that crawling around on my roof this morning when it was 9 degrees, to clear ice and snow to stop a leak, did not cause me to long for a southern winter day.

My low temperature ended up being 29.7F this morning. It probably would have not been this cold though had the winds not died down in my location for the last 1-2 hours worth of cooling (they were calm in my backyard when I woke up). Other areas ranged between 28-35 degrees across SE Texas north of I-10. The coldest areas were the places that saw the winds die down, and the warmest places (such as IAH) were the ones where the winds stayed breezy.

Tonight looks to be even colder, and according to the NWS, many areas could be seeing multiple hours worth of at or below freezing temperatures under a clear sky and with calm winds. Conroe could even be as cold as the mid 20s by sunrise tomorrow!

Here are the latest forecast numbers for tonight (at IAH) from various model sources...

NGM MOS - 31F
ETA MOS - 29F
GFS MOS - 34F
GFS operational - 32.9F

The average of the four numbers - 31.7F

**Keep in mind = Cities north and west of IAH should see colder readings than this**

The latest modeling now shows the stronger front (once scheduled for the 23rd/24th) arriving next Saturday instead with it becoming moderately chilly behind it. By Christmas though, the models bring in a return flow and warmer temperatures. As it stands now, the 12z GFS is showing temperatures in the 60s on Christmas day with a southerly breeze and a chance of showers. Keep in mind though, with it still being over 8 days away, this outlook is subject to major changes. Stay tuned!

I don't like the latest trends. Winds look like they will collapse after sunset with a dewpoint of 24F. I have wrapped some tender palms just in case. I think IAH will see 29F and I could see 28F.

Yeah, the dewpoints are very low out there this afternoon...lower than even I expected. As of 1pm, the area dewpoint numbers looked like this...

IAH - 23F
Hooks - 21F
Waco - 19F
Conroe - 22F
Hobby - 22F
Beaumont - 25F
Austin - 17F
Lufkin - 21F

If these dewpoints do not start moderating some, then with clear skies and light winds, I think the NWS will have to lower their current forecast numbers for tonight a few degrees in their afternoon or evening update. Widespread readings in the 20s would not surprise me tomorrow morning, and it is looking more and more likely that IAH will finally see it's first freeze of the season.
