haha thanks. Yeah I guess you're right. On the bright side, I definitely won't be needing a jacket here tomorrow. However, it will still be kind of hard to get over if OKC does get the 4-8" of blowing snow they are expecting. It's been quite some time since I have seen a storm like that..probably not since living in Raleigh back in the early 2000s..so missing it will not be fun. Like you said though, there appears to be several more winter weather threats on the horizon as we head into the new year, probably lasting through February if we're lucky, so hopefully i'll have plenty of opportunities to make up for missing this one later on in the season. :)

EWG...you have the worst luck :( You lived in Houston, then moved and Ike hit and they've had snow. Now you have a chance to have some significant snow and you're in Florida. Don't travel or move again...ever!

lol, yeah my weather luck has not been so good in recent years. I always move or travel at the wrong times it seems. I have more traveling yet to do over the next few weeks too, which means that I will probably wind up missing every good oklahoma winter threat through the first part of January. haha. On the bright side though, one of my travels might take me to the currently snow-packed North Carolina mountains region in early January. If that plays out, then may be..just may be..my winter weather luck will finally turn around. :)

I'm starting to think that the National Weather Service in Norman might need to consider upgrading certain areas to a blizzard warning today. Winds are gusting well over 40mph in many areas this morning, and if these speeds continue after the transition to snow takes place, then I really do not see how this wouldn't fit the definition of a blizzard. IMO, this is looking like the worst snow storm for central Oklahoma since the November 30th, 2006 storm, but it will probably even be worse than that.

I agree EWG. Especially across Western and Central Oklahoma, it looks like Blizzard criteria will be met.

A little further east, I am concerned about a warm layer just above the surface that may delay the transition to complete snow. There may be a window of time for sleet and maybe even freezing rain.

Here is a link to a webcam at the National Weather Center in Norman (just south of OKC). It will be very interesting to watch throughout the day:

10am EDT - It looks like the sleet and snow is starting to come down pretty heavily. The NWC rooftops are starting to turn white.

Main show is starting for OKC now. Looks like most of the storm's highest accumulation rates are about to happen.

Check out the NWC webcam from Norman right now! Crazy!

Yeah, I bet! I just saw the latest report from Will Rogers Airport showing 45mph sustained winds, 59mph gusts, heavy snow, and a quarter mile visibility. That is incredible! Can't wait to see the pics.

I'm hearing reports now that my part of town is currently experiencing whiteout conditions with less than a quarter mile visibility!

BTW: That webcam down there at the weather center is definitely confirming this report.

That is CRAZY!!! Now I remember why I live close to the GOM and complain about not getting snow instead of living further North and complaining because it won't stop snowing. It all looks beautiful from this armchair, but I WOULD NOT WANT TO DEAL WITH THAT!!!
PLEASE EVERYONE BE SAFE AND LET US KNOW YOU ARE STILL OK WHEN IT IS OVER!!!
