...APRIL SNOW/SLEET SHOWERS BRINGS MAY SNOW FLOWERS?...

REPORTS HAVE BEEN COMING INTO THIS OFFICE OF SLEET AND SNOW SHOWERS
ACROSS SOUTHEAST TEXAS AND SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA THIS AFTERNOON. WE
HAVE HAD REPORTS OF SLEET AS FAR SOUTH AS HACKBERRY LOUISIANA WITH
REPORTS OF SNOW IN TYLER COUNTY TEXAS AND VERNON PARISH IN SOUTHWEST
LOUISIANA.

AN UPPER LEVEL LOW OVER THE GREAT LAKES REGION HAS DRIVEN A CANADIAN
COLD FRONT DEEP INTO THE GULF. A COMBINATION OF GULF AND PACIFIC
MOISTURE IS PRODUCING LIGHT RAIN WHICH IS FALLING THROUGH COLDER AIR
AND FREEZING ENOUGH TO PRODUCE SLEET AND SOME PATCHES OF LIGHT SNOW
IN PLACES...MAINLY THE LAKES REGION IN SOUTHEAST TEXAS AND SOUTHWEST
LOUISIANA.

THIS IS THE FIRST KNOWN INSTANCE WHERE FREEZING PRECIPITATION HAS
BEEN REPORTED IN SOUTHEAST TEXAS AND SOUTHERN LOUISIANA...FOR THE
MONTH OF APRIL. CONTINUOUS WEATHER RECORDS HAVE BEEN KEPT IN SOME
LOCATIONS FOR OVER 100 YEARS.

THE WINTER MIX WILL END AFTER SUNRISE TOMORROW MORNING ALTHOUGH
SUNDAY WILL REMAIN COLD. A GRADUAL WARM UP IS EXPECTED ON TUESDAY AS
THE UPPER LEVEL TROF IS REPLACED BY ZONAL FLOW ALOFT. THIS WILL KEEP
THE COLDER TEMPERATURES TO OUR NORTH AND ALLOW FOR TEMPERATURES TO
RECOVER BACK TO SEASONAL NORMALS BY WEDNESDAY.

The National Weather Service has enlarged the FREEZE WARNING to include most of North Texas until 9:00AM CDT Sunday.

NWS - Fort Worth wrote:ARCTIC HIGH PRESSURE WILL REMAIN IN PLACE ACROSS NORTH TEXAS

TO OCCUR. A FREEZE THIS LATE IN THE SEASON CAN BE PARTICULARLY
DAMAGING TO COLD SENSITIVE PLANTS AND OTHER CROPS. MAKE SURE
OUTDOOR PETS HAVE A WARM PLACE TO STAY.

The National Weather Service has issued a Snow Advisory for the southern half of North Texas until Midnight CDT Sunday.

NWS - Fort Worth wrote:PERIODS OF LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW...OCCASIONALLY MIXED WITH LIGHT

And if we're lucky, we may see a few more snowflakes from this line of storms in the middle of the night. This isn't the first time us Texans experienced a Wintry Easter, and it won't be the last. Just hope none of the eggs froze to the ground.

Wow...some crazy April weather!

There's been a lot of sleet in Beaumont today.

My brother called my mom earlier today, from Jasper, about an hour north of here to report snow! His kids got on the phone to tell her it was like a blizzard. :P

My grandmother and aunt live in Brownwood (in Central Texas near Abilene) and snow is covering the ground there. My aunt's lost a lot of vegetation though.

A friend in Fort Worth said earlier this afternoon that his yard had a blanket of snow.

Is this crazy or what? I guess we'll save our Easter dresses to wear next Sunday - silly me thought we could wear SPRING clothes!

And they just issued a Winter Weather Advisory and a Freeze Warning!

This is fantastic. I left for a weekend trip to Dallas. It is 42 here with no precip. in sight.

I just talked to my roomate back home in Huntsvillle. It's been sleeting for hours. Just my luck. This kind of crap always happens to me!

Hey EWG I think you will get some decent snow tonight. Set your clock to 2:30AM and take some photos. The banding to your W is heading your way.
