Still light snow at 7:53. Temp down to 37. I guess it wasn't a misprint.

with such low dewpoints (below freezing) it is possible that the precipitation over there could be light snow.

I am really amazed by the winds tonight. They are still howling at nearly 9pm and with a temperature of between 34-35F on my thermometer..it feels COLD!

It is interesting to note that upper level clouds still appear headed this way:

This could help us from cooling too much tonight, but a freeze still looks likely (since we are already so cold). It would be cool if these could spit out a flurry or two though (though that is highly doubtful).

OK...you KNEW....hehehe...I would be keping an eye on you all this winter...and I have been...so I'm back....

And...NO...there is no way it is snow. The dewpoints have nothing to do with it...it is the fact the air is above freezing all the way up to 580 MBs...and at 800Mb it is 8C. It is way to warm for snow.

IT's a mistake by the ob system...and they even sent a COR out...

KBPT 010153Z COR 30016G26KT 9SM BKN075 BKN095 03/M04 A3018 RMK AO2 PK WND 31030/0105 SLP220 P0000 T00281039=

Please EWG...as I said last year...use good sense and not your heart. I know you want winter precip...but look at data first...instead of making data try and fit the answer. Remember...it is about the air above the sfc and how warm it is. When there is an air layer above freezing that is 10K+ feet thick...there is no way it will snow.

oh no! It's AFM! I guess I will be kept in check the rest of the winter now.

but really, it is good to see you back here! You seemed to always be right last year during winter events, so now we should have a much better idea with you around this year. Welcome back!

Well that would explain why there was absolutely nothing showing up on the radar.

Nice to hear from you again AFM.

I WISH it snowed here, but I certainly haven't seen any. The airport reading is in Nederland/Port Arthur and the coldest reading in that area (on Instaweather) is 32.8°
Although we have temps below freezing IN Beaumont and surrounding areas, the NWS "official" Beaumont reading is actually from the airport, several miles south of Beaumont in Nederland/Port Arthur.

That reading at the airport did inspire me to head outside a few times to look for flurries. ...unless snow starts falling from the stars, I'm out of luck.

Welcome back, AFM! I sure missed ya!!

Another shot of cold air Sunday-Monday and another the end of next week. After that, it looks like the pattern will relax for a while. It'll be interesting to see if the pattern repeats itself mid and end of the month.

Day 7 cold shot:

I think these NWS observations are inaccurate. For instance in the last hour or so Ft Worth Meacham Field was reporting heavy rain at 28F! That has got to be wrong.
