Winter Storm Watch for Seattle and all of western WA

W13 - that snow fell last night... not this morning.

My co-worker lives on the hill east of Kent and I called her about 20 minutes ago (she is a huge Seahwaks fans) she said there has been no snow today and only a tiny dusting overnight. Hardly noticeable.

We did get snow this morning (around 8 or 9am, can't remember the exact time), for about 10-15 minutes. It was a steady snow too, but I went to Target, which is still on the East Hill of Kent today, albeit lower elevation but 200 feet or so), and there was no snow to speak of, only five miles away.

Tells you how spotty the snow accumulations were last night.

Currently 40 F (dropped two degrees in the last few minutes), and getting a light ENE wind at 1-3 mph, which should bring in colder air in Eastern washington, and may be already do so as we are 5 degrees cooler than pretty much all other locations around my area.

I think the time has come to just ignore TT. He is only here to razz people. You can tell by his posts. I am done with him.

He just ignores the fact that I have said I am not in the town of stanwood, and up 500FT. Big difference.

Yes, I agree. It seems all he wants to do is bring down people's spirits and hopes. I am just going to ignore what he says from now on, unless it is something positive (at least saying that snow is possible tonight in my area, because it really is). He is probably just mad because he got the DE winds last night and didn't even see a trace of snow by this morning.

If I remember correctly, Stanwood is EAST of Everett. You should know that conditions vary greatly from city to city, especially today. Like how I am 5 degrees colder than North bend, even though they are 2000 Feet, while I am only at 800 Feet.

Can't wait for the latest NWS Forecast Discussion to come out. Should be quite interesting to see what they say about tonight and the possible Tuesday snow event.

39 F at 3:29, temperatures dropping steadily (three degrees the last hour). Still have a light ENE Wind, which I believe is pulling cold air from Eastern Washington.

Anyone interested in seeing if there will be more snow around the area, watch kiro 7 News, as they are usually the most up to date on the latest forecast. King 5 and Komo will probably have updated information by their 6:30 Newscast.

NWS afternoon discussion didn't say too much. Similar situation to last night, but less precipitation. They won't issue a snow advisory unless more moisture rotates from the south. We'll have to wait and see what the night discussion says. As for next week, very little confidence. They still bring a strong shortwave down the BC coast, but they mention that Frazer outflow will decrease and eventually end. I'm a little suspicious about this. Still the possibility of snow Tuesday night. After that, say "so long!!!" to winter for at least 10 days.

Yes... it will cut off the Frazer outflow.

The Frazer outflow occurs when there is an upper low off the coast.

We will not have that on Tuesday. Not at all.

NWS Seattle playing conservative after the last couple of days. Probably won't mention a single thing until tomarrow night at the earliest. NWS Spokane has high confidence, saying it could be the coldest they have seen so far. Tonight is just a wait and see. Sounds like we might even be a tad cooler, so that is a plus.

We have now a NE wind picking up here.

According to the GFS, it seems almost the entire US will be saying good bye to winter by day 16.

The NWS Zone Forecast for my area says snow showers likely after midnight and through early tomorow morning.

They have not touched the temps for next week, hard to think it will be in the low 40's with -12 to -15 850MB temps by wednesday.
