Can see pattern starting to take shape that allows for 11/15-11/27 time frame to be mild for mid atlantic.
I will be spending most of my time here or at any site that you all can suggest is civil, but not sterile, and busy. My only drawback about here is that it is slow. I have given up on Fight Weather BB, there is far more interest there in bad feeling and conflict than weather discussion. The powers that be have no interest in regulating the site at a mature level and the idea of coming on a weather board is to enjoy it and opposed to deflecting arrows.

Bummer, we will miss you, can't say I blame you but thicker skin might be in order. those weenies are everywhere. You might reconsider coming back, your probably going to see a more responsive SYSOP. anyway good luck on your winter forecast.

"thick skin" and "weenies' are interesting concepts. I would define weenies as basically benevolent persons who do not know much about weather and ask a lot of questions and make statements about weather events that are unsupportable. What that site has become dominated by are not those who do not know seeking knowledge, ie weenies, but those of malevolent intent. Free speech in the idea to express concept and idea of course, in the idea to harass, harangue and belittle while offering nothing of substance, I do not see that as free speech but simply as a level of communication that is well beneath me. We have large weather responsibilites in the DC area and will not have our good names and reputation dragged down, soiled and sullied by people whose sole intent is to conflict. The founder and administrators of that board have allowed this free for all to flourish. Meteotrade, Jet Streak, AzWx, Jeff Berarde, NJWx, and others are gone or are virtually non-existent. People of competence and character will not put forth their efforts only to be derided by a bunch of misfits. Soon, there will be no weather discussion at all but everyone's right to assail everyone else will flourish in that mud wrestling environment.

Weather53..... hang here man! You are a great forcaster and this place (so far) is civil . I know its slow compared to YouKnow Where, but maybe it will pick up....i think its a growing and refined site. I used to go to You know where just to see YOUR reports and 1-2 others, but thats it. there maybe a few others (not sure) like me here, so we definately would like you to stay. Its great to have all the good folks (SF, King, Weather53, .....many!) here and minimal trolls (not to jinx it!). I, myself being a proud weenie, rely on you guys!
Take care,

W53 - I hope that I am not part of the reason why you no longer wish to post at the other board. I know that I have disagreed with you on several occassions, but I don't resort to name calling or insults. If you decide not to post there anymore, I hope that you will continue to post here. I value your knowledge and opinions regarding upcoming weather patterns. And hopefully, this forum will become more active as we get into winter.

People will always have a different opinion on how an event will turn out, I agree with that and engage in it myself. That is vastly different than what was happening over there for the 72 hours preceeding my departure. I will not participate in a forumn that condones and even promotes untruthful, repetitive, distorted personal attacks. I have shown the site to NWS office at Sterling to try to get participation. Their response was most insightful and along the lines of why on earth would you want to make a good faith effort to give and receive weather information on a site that panders to parties specializing in confrontation and conflict and weather is a secondary issue and anti social behavior is king. No one, ever, would address anyone like is done there in a social or business setting, it is fantasy field day for the non-functional. The answer is that I do not want to, really never did ,and the minuses outweigh the plusses. And if that makes me on a high horse, then at least I enjoy the view up here rather than rolling in the mud below.

I respect your decision, Weather53. Thanks for the explanation. I hope to keep reading your insights here throughout the winter.

Weather53, i don't think what you are saying is 'high horse' material. I have seen ALOT of people join 'there' and come back to the previous board they were on , and say stuff along the lines of 'what the !#$* ? ' or 'Why didn't someone warn me?'...... Knock on wood, perhaps we can have a civil, exciting and pro (with a few weenies like me, that have the passion) run here. If so , it was a long time coming!

Well, judging from this I would most certainly fall into the "weenie" category, but that is what I love about Storm2k! You don't have to be a pro to express your love for weather, that is what keeps me here day after day!!

Well from what i have been just looking it it seems the week of Thankgiving just may be a very stormy week with lots of cold air from the TN/Central Plains/Mid Atlantic on north and even some nice cool temps down to the Gulf (Not including FL/GA as of yet)..................BTW snow is very possible that week from the Central Plains on east which includes, The Rock, Jacki, Me, wx247, and Weather53 (Even though he says mild)................This is very early to say for sure but this is what im seeing from the resources i have and to remind everyone it could change:)

Well 53 it seems we have both pretty much nailed this week. Great call and insight on this 53!

Tomorrow is really starting to look very very intresting out this way with each new run of the models in the snowfall dept!!!! The tough part is gonna be the warm ground temps which may put a damper on much of anything sticking to the pavement but the grassy areas i expect to see atleast a couple of inches for here by tomorrow noght. I will have a better idea on this later and will post a snowfall map for this!
