Yes it is starting to develop just off the Texas coast near Brownsville.

Oh ok, so who liked the post? That would mean less snow, right?

Like Porta said I don't think the coastal low is having much effect on N Tx.

For us up in Denton co., were watching the ULL. Pretty much all short range models are showing it putting out some light snow this evening. We just need it to overperform 8-)

Looks like the changeover has made it down to Boerne just NW of Bexar County (San Antonio).

Seeing mostly snow now in far south Austin. Probably a 70/30 mix at the moment. I will post photos when there is something to really look at .

Temps slowly dropping and dp rising IMBY. Maybe in an hour some flakes. I want the heavy snow that keeps dying at the Tarrant border. Lol

RadarScope precip depiction showing rain for much of DFW.

Radarscope is a great tool but the precip types can briefly show it switching back and forth but that isn't always accurate. All reports in tarrant county have been all snow. Even with surface temps around 36 with we are very cold air aloft.

Now the northplexers know how southplexers feel when they brag about changeover while everyone else waits in most events. :D.

The transition to snow was abrupt in Dripping Springs, TX. Flakes are getting bigger by the minute.

And then there’s those eastplexers like me who keep getting rocks. I think it’s too dry here for it to reach the surface currently. Radar shows it should be precipping something.

not many large flakes, but pretty heavy now, sleet/graupel? All the neighbors' roofs covered. A little accumulation in crooks of trees.

You guys too! Always on the short end. The light reflections at best are trying to moisten up the atmosphere but it's the stronger returns that results on the ground.

The leading edge is a bit deceptive at least in Tarrant county. It may look like rain on radar but at least from the reports it's snow.

Yes, big flakes falling in Arlington just South of I20.
Got a dusting here right now.

Summer's for hibernation, Winter’s my vacation

Don't use my posts as forecast, I'm a complete meteorology noob! I just like cold weather, alright?

All observations I post are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

One of my neighbors apparently installed an anti-snow device. Seems like it’s working! :P

Snow really coming down now! Temperature just dipped to 32.7. I kind of expect it to dip further. Snow is starting to accumulate on our fence posts, grassy pasture, and flower beds. But all the birds are still eating at my feeders like crazy! Finches, titmouse, cardinals, chickadees, and the robins are still on the ground. (northwest of Georgetown, Tx. a few miles northwest of Lake Georgetown). Pretty AWESOME!

I had good radar returns for about 30-40 minutes before snow began to hit the ground.
