That moisture is interesting cpdaman. It will probably just mean that the clouds will take longer to clear out and that some light precip. may be possible longer into the afternoon/evening.
As for winter weather...I guess it is possible IF there is still some moisture to work with when the atmosphere and surface becomes cold enough, but I won't make any calls on that..I will let a pro met do that.
One thing is for sure though..the winds are REALLY picking up within the last hour and the temperatures are falling. I am in the mid 30s and with these strong winds it feels like the low to mid 20s! Brr...

One thing that might be interesting to watch - and might keep EWG awake all night (j/k) - is the wraparound precip with the trough. It keeps moving SE and just might clip our Northern or NE counties overnight. It should be light as it is moving pretty fast.
Same with this next band about to move through the Metroplex - it may be a decent snowfall rate but it's moving so fast it probably won't do much.

yeah, it looks like Waco is about to get some flurries too (as the band is building south somewhat). I will be watching this over the next few hours to see what it does, but I am not expecting too much. If anything may be a sleet pellet or snowflake somewhere within the SE Texas warning area (north of I-10) during the course of the evening.jschlitz wrote:One thing that might be interesting to watch - and might keep EWG awake all night (j/k) - is the wraparound precip with the trough. BTW, here is a good view of that band right now:
http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid= ... 1&loop=yes
Looks like if it continues at it's current course and size...it may skim north of Bryan/College Station, may be impact Huntsville, and then lift out. I will be watching for any southward deviation or new development though.

Besides the reinforcing shot coming this weekend, another shot of arctic will be coming down around the middle of next week. The ENSEMBLES have varied the strength of the air mass, but it has been consistent in nearly every run the past 5 days in bringing it down.
5-7 day ENSEMBLES:

I know that NAM wants to bring a 1050+ high down the plains on Saturday and Sunday. I am not sure how cold it will get, but I don't think we will have to worry abut frozen stuff this time around

In the last couple of frames in GR3, the southern end of it is fizzling-out. I think the dry slot is getting to it and the dynamics are finally outrunning the moisture.

Got to see 1/4 inch of accumulation here...mainly in the grassy areas.
All winter weather warnings and advisories have been cancelled, however the NWS has issued a FREEZE WARNING for all of North Texas until 10:00AM CST Friday as skies gradually clear overnight.
ARCTIC AIR AND CLEAR SKIES WILL ALLOW TEMPERATURES TO DROP
OVERNIGHT INTO THE UPPER TEENS NORTHWEST TO THE LOW/MID 20S
SOUTHEAST...PRODUCING A HARD FREEZE. TEMPERATURES WILL RISE ABOVE
FREEZING AGAIN BY LATE MORNING FRIDAY.
A FREEZE WARNING MEANS THAT THE SEASONS FIRST EPISODE OF
WIDESPREAD SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE LIKELY TO OCCUR. THESE
CONDITIONS WILL KILL SENSITIVE PLANTS AND RESIDENTS ARE ADVISED TO
PROTECT TENDER VEGETATION. AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER SYSTEMS SHOULD ALSO
BE TURNED OFF TO AVOID CREATING ICE PATCHES ON NEABY
ROADS...DRIVEWAYS...AND SIDEWALKS. PROVIDE SHELTER AND WARMTH FOR
PETS AS WELL.

snow
freezing rain and sleet started at 430 in the morning in fort worth and picked up later in Dallas it changed to all snow later and light to moderate snow fell from 10 in the morning until about 2 pm in the Dallas fort worth area... all the rooftops and windshields and most of the grassy areas are covered with snow where im at..... accumulations very drastically across the DFW area! i know central and east dallas saw alot of freezing rain and sleet and snow as well. parts of fort worth theres probably an inch or 2 of snow in some areas.. parts of dallas theres probably a half inch maybe an inch in some areas... its kinda hard to tell because freezing rain and sleet fell on top of the snow...its kind of a messy mix of snow sleet and freezing rain and accumulations vary depending on where you live in DFW... another snow band is about to enter heres soon though...
