The 12z FWD sounding showed a dry layer near the surface but it looks like the 12z models were initialized even dryer. This might help get snow to the ground faster (see post above from Arlington). Also, precipitation looks to be several hours ahead of schedule for DFW, once again maybe b/c models had the lower levels too dry. Also, this appears to be keeping temps in check across DFW as the models had more time without precipitation this morning with temps slowly warming.

Yeah that initial band looks like all snow. Northern edge should be on the doorstep of the big airport.

Looking at Radarscope and it seems like DFW is close to overcoming dry air. Looks like it’s ever so slightly starting to fill in the radar.

AND models weren’t forecasting anything before noon really, so even if it takes the next 2 hours for DFW to overcome some dry air, it’s still ahead of schedule and might lead to somehow getting some snow.

Looking good early. If the white on the radar was zombies we would all be about to die.

DFW dewpoints have been sitting in the upper 20s (dry air) and that may end up being the saving grace! Cooling.

Wtf?!!! So it’s dry as a bone here in N FW but now snowing east in Arlington. Sounds about right. Sickening.

Radar keeps literally evaporating. I don’t get the hope.

Seeing pics from my wife’s family in Abilene. Very deep snow.

Here in Bryan the rain started mixing with sleet about 30-40 minutes ago, now big snowflakes starting to mix in.. I'm down to 35 on my WeatherFlow station. Wasn't expecting the changeover until early afternoon.

The radar can be a little misleading sometimes. There are heavier returns from mineral wells to Aledo heading to northwest FW atm. Those have to make it into the metro before seeing anything coming down.

My dew point has gone from 27 to 29, so cautiously hopeful.
