Yup. Overrunning pattern, combined with cold air trying to move south, will likley yeild freezing rain for parts of North Texas, and West Texas, if it wasn't for the crappy upper air pattern, all of that would be snow...
A major Ice Storm may be upcoming for Parts of Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, northern AL, GA... We need to watch this...
The farthest south I see this reaching is Dallas, even that is a stretch, Austin, San Antonio should be fine.

Cheezy, if I were you, I'd be watching this closely. Freezing rain is my major concern the weekend for North Texas. The air will be very shallow, but cold, and with overrunning will produce a possilbe icing event. Meanwhile, SE TX will be cool as well, as highs will likley be stuck in the 50s, as the bitterly cold air is locked up in the Plains.
Again, Ice Storm possibilites are beggining to show up, we need to watch this closely.

For some reason our official low only hit 35 last night? Temperatures actually warmed after midnight when some wind picked up. Our low the night before was 31, so much for this "arctic" outbreak. It's really pathetic how warm the winter has been, I'd have to check on it but I'd be willing to bet this is the least amount of freezes/cold weather we've had since the early 90's. Hopefully we don't fall into drought this spring (we've been in a mild/moderate drought for months now anyway) but it seems like the past few years have become very dry. If it's going to be a warm winter, at least give me a green spring!

03-04 was worse... Believe it or not, at leats for Houston. If it wasn't for December, this winter would tie with 03-04 as far as warmth goes. But that arctic outbreak last December saved this winter as being the warmest I've ever seen.

Too early to give out any accumulations of sleet or freezing rain. My advice to you is to keep checking in with the Dallas NWS forecasts, and the local forecasts in your area, and also keep a check to the latest model runs, as this could get ugly for your area...
Again, the air will not be cold enough for snow, but freezing rain and sleet will be possible. Meanwhile, Houston will be in the 50s with plain old rain. I hate you Gulf ridge. If its not the EPO or pacific jet, its something else that keeps Houston away from arctic air.

Ya, 03-04 was good for ya'll. However, down in Houston, it was the WARMEST winter I had ever seen, we only had maybe 2 or 3 freezes... This year I've had at least 6 or 7...
