Actually it is the disturbance up near Seattle that the models are suggesting may bring a bit of moisture across Saturday night into early Sunday.

Thanks for sharing yall's pictures with us! It looks like a winter wonderland up there!
Just a cold light rain here in College Station. Maybe we will get some freezing drizzle this weekend.

Long time reader, first time poster here. I've really enjoyed all of the weather knowledge and friendly banter on all of the Texas seasonal forums the past couple of years. We picked up right at 1" of sleet/ice at my house over in old east Dallas. Here is a photo I took earlier on my drive to work. Unfortunately our office did have power this morning...

WeatherP1, thanks so much for your post and photo! Looks pretty icy up there. Great to have you on the board and hope you'll be encouraged to remain active.

Yeah I really enjoy talking with all of you about Texas weather all throughout the year.
I love discussing model runs with other weather nerds like myself! :cheesy:

Imo even light precip, in addition to what NCTX already has, would be enough to create more problems- with temps staying well below freezing for atleast another 60 hours.

Not sounding the alarms yet, but it needs to be watched imo, because conditions may become 10 times worse if NTX got another round of frozen precip.

Remember models didn't exactly handle the qpf of the this system perfectly, mostly underestimating the bands that setup, & didn't pick up on the backbuilding that we saw unfold before our eyes.

All texans need to stay tuned, just to stay on the safe side.

I can't see that disturbance traveling that far in such a short time given the flow pattern. It will likely dig south & then travel east at some point. How can it travel that far in 24 hours?

Consider it's only about 1100NM from the northern TX panhandle to western Washington state. To get to the TX panhandle from there in 36 hrs means it only has to travel at 30 kts (35 mph). Models have it moving at about 36-38 mph. GFS keeps most of the energy north of Texas this weekend, thus its forecast of little or no precip. NAM is similar.

Where? You don't list your location in your profile. Euro has light snow in east-central Oklahoma Saturday night then heavier snow up in eastern Nebraska into Iowa on Sunday.

The disturbance will come, though I understand it may not have moisture to work with. The storm that impacted TX yesterday & today also didn't do much in the Central/South so...

I tried the measure the accumulation on the patio table, but couldnt stick a ruler thru it, was like an ice cube.

Amazing that it looks like snow but is ice.

It is bizarre, you can walk down to the sidewalk and back, and not leave a single visable footprint.

Going to try to venture down to the park at the end of the street for some hill sledding, should be interesting. What does a texan have in the garage to sled on for the kids?
Laundry basket? Flattened uhaul box? Hmmmm, :D :D
