Yes, something has changed. I'm not convinced this moisture axis will move south. Making me think we won't get hardly any precip.
I take that back. Look at Mexico just west of Big Bend. Moisture is being forced over the top of the Mexico mountains & is condensing. This is beginning of the main event.

Re: Texas Winter 2013-2014
I just drove 3 miles from N. Dallas to Addison. The parts of my windshield that weren't covered by wipers built up a 1/16" of ice in about 5 minutes.

My understanding based is that our precip likely wouldn't come from this. GFS has it peaking tomorrow around 9 am.

I'm in McKinney also, but I'm getting a rain/sleet mix....leaning heavily toward the sleet side though.
I'm close to the square. It's for sure all sleet.....deck, raised garden bins are sure getting white.

I certainly believe you guys ... I'm seeing reports coming into NWS Dallas/Fort Worth which indicate freezing rain/sleet is coming down pretty good in Grayson and Cooke counties. Be safe!

Anyone have a more current sounding than the one from NWS FW earlier in the morning? Sounds odd to me that it is falling as all sleet. Would mean there is not as much of a warm nose as we first thought.

By the way, College Station will be launching a special sounding at 12Z tomorrow. I'll have the data by 7am.

You can generate one at the Ohio State site:
http://www.twisterdata.com/
Click the "RAP" tab then click anywhere you want a sounding for on the map. Once it makes the first sounding you can use the map that appears on the right side of the page to adjust the plot location. You can advance the sounding forward if you like. Here's a current model sounding for the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. Looks like the sub-freezing layer is about 4000 ft thick, which is why sleet is being reported. But look at that warm nose above! Up to 50 degrees at about 6000 ft.

Again EWX is taking its time to update the area forecast. My temp still shows 39 here but the winds are stronger and it feels much colder than it did around noon.

Did you expect something different?!

Temps/winds have been fairly consistent here in Austin since this morning but the dewpoint is dropping. That could make one feel "colder." We're holding in the low 40s in the immediate metro area and upper 30s in the north/northwest/west outskirts.
