The AFD is almost an hour later than yesterday and still not out yet their short term was out 30 minutes earlier. Hmmmm.

Icon was behind the trends the whole way on the NYE storm, I can’t see that being much different this time

This is quite a curveball. I dont trust ICON though. It has a northern piece of energy over the dakots (on the NAM but less significant) kick it SE quick.

Similar precip shield just different thermals. I wouldn't worry too much about it. On the get go the ICON hasn't shown much for anyone outside of west Texas on a consistent basis.

With this cold air. If we can get this thing negatively titled coming across central TX, someone is going to be really happy Sunday Evening.

Snow cancel.
It probably means FW is giving the updated forecast and we can probably expect increase wording in the AFD.

I only know this because I am having my 15 year old daughter drive so I can check for updates on this website and for the AFD.
Yes I am becoming obsessed. If this doesn’t happen I may need therapy.

A new graphic is out and it looks good. Can’t post now.

Honestly it’s great to have a system to track that feels like a real snowstorm. We’ve spent the last few years staring at the Nam/Hrrr hoping for a slight wobble or temp bust that could result in a little snow.

Re: Texas Winter 2020-2021
Still think biggest snowfall amounts overall will be south of I-20 (Waco area points east). I think Dallas will finally break the drought though. Greater QPF the further south you go on most ensembles. Just my .02.

I think most districts will just let it be a snow day.
If the kids have school, I am not teaching them anything new. It will be a catch-up day, no Zoom meeting or anything.

Why is the GFS so sheared? Precip falls apart quick and is light except initially?

I think that is also in part why it’s running warmer than the other models. Stronger southerly winds leading to more shear and higher temperatures.

So is the NWS predicting a more northern track per the updated snow map?

Re: Texas Winter 2020-2021
Wow. One thing to watch though (caution) is the GFS develops low pressure off the coast of Texas and scours out a lot of the precip from the northern trough has it moves further into Texas. Would definitely not be good for snow chances across north Texas if this wins out. Too warm
