Oh and the 12z GFS doesn't even have a freeze at DFW for the entire 16 days and has 60s and 70s for Christmas.

The GFS parallel run has sub-freezing temps & maybe a snow flurry next Sunday:

I think some people forget how cold 2012-2014 was.... I saw 11 degrees in Conroe and overall those Winters were some doozies.

Not every Winter will be cold because we live in a hell hole for Winter weather. It's why I'm leaving the disgusting dump called Houston in late December and headed for Montana.

The euro still has a good freeze for DFW and highs around freezing next Sunday after near 75 on Saturday

Then a cold rain and 30s to open Christmas week

The euro snow map actually shows some snow accumulation near and just southwest of DFW next Monday. On the meteogram temps are above freezing barely aloft and surface at DFW

I posted yesterday that something would come out of the gulf in the 7-10 day time-frame, and the NE 1/4 Texas would be affected, pattern recognition.

Small cold front making it's way through here. Dropped the temp 10 degrees so far. Feels nicer than almost 70!

I'm from Wyoming but grew up in Sugarland.I left Texas for good in 2012 and came back to Cheyenne.Houston winters suck if you like cold, but my fascination with weather was because of the cold outbreak of 89 and the one in 1990 that gets overlooked.

1989 is solely responsible for my love of severe Winter Weather. It was a blast playing in that Winter Wonderland in Longview.

I'm headed to Big sky the 27th through the 1st

That's crazy! If it was 6 degrees there in Sugar Land it probably was about the same around where I live. I'm about 30 minutes southwest of Sugar Land. We usually have about the same temps. We did get about 6" of snow here Christmas Eve of 04. Now that I'll never forget.

Two benchmarks for me... I grew up in Alabama so the blizzard of 1993 I was 4 years old lol(still the only time I've seen more than 4 or 5 inches) and Hurricane Opal for hurricane season(which was still a hurricane 4 hours inland). Everything since I can remember watching or tracking.

Yep. I guess it was a once in a lifetime event.I waited years for a repeat and it never did.The winters seemed to get warmer with 11 being the exception and then I moved back up here .

lol reminds me of being a kid and watching the weather channel all day and night when there was something brewing in the tropics.I also would call Dr Neil Frank and harass him on the khou weather line lol.
