The 96 blizzard dumped over 26 inches at my house, and boy, my pa and ma had no snowblower, so, we had to shovel it all out!

The most snow ever observed for Charleston, SC in one month was 14" which occurred in the winter of 1799-1800 ... the column was written by at the time lead forecaster Eleanor Vallier-Talbot (Turtle742) ... who is now with BOX. This also profiled the January 24th-25th, 2000 storm and a surprise system which ended up dumping 3" of snow here and caught CHS (and all of Charleston offguard) ... I can still remember the met on duty and his exact words when I told him how hard it was snowing ... "Oh SH!T" ...

and its even more rare (in the case of the system which produced 18" in Savannah) for low pressure to deepen that quickly...that far south.
