RNS- check out 3-4-99 on the archives(plymouth or unisys) if you get a chance. I'm sure there are differences, but the evolution of that storm seems fairly similar to the "POTENTIAL" being painted here. There always seems to be a chance, but the way this year has gone, the stronger storm scenario may be the way to go. If this is going to happen, models will begin to resolve the transfer more and more accurately as it draws closer. Gonna be really hard to narrow down if/where exactly the chance exists for heavy snow until that time IMO.

Looking at the latest computer run the storm is going to track close to or just east of chicago meaning another rain event for southeastern michigan (detroit)

yep...i see what you mean...that particular event looks like the 0z run of the canadian last night...just the surface low w/ 3/4/99 system is stronger than the 999mb depiction the GGEM had (which will change over the next few days several times). The track would be favorable for sig snow in the detroit area and remainder of the southern lakes. though we/ll have to see.

Also watch the severe wx in the southern mid-atlantic and southeast with this next system.

Later this week

This next system at this point appears to be much warmer. If rain occurs in big cities such as Boston and New York later this week, the risk of flooding would be there. Still a bit too early to speculate much on exact amounts.

Any significant snow I believe would be in the Detroit area and even into parts of the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley also later this week. Certainly we could have a continuation of this busy active wx pattern for sometime.
