2:00 AM...Dupont Circle.....3/4"- 1" on grass, trees, cars, railings, etc.....some iciness on sidewalk and streets, but spotty and not widespread....just saw car spin tires briefly, but generally traffic moving fine along Connecticut Avenue.....Currently 32 and steady light rain....I suspect things are much different at IAD and pts N and W.....time for bed....Matt

Aaahhh, Dupont Circle. I used to love that area when I lived back home. Maybe someday, I'll be back.

will be heading to work in DC soon, suspect I'll find a cold rain there for most of the day with little bit of sleet mixing in. Sleet/rain here near BWI now

Arlington VA (next to National Airport) has about an inch of snow on top of cars, but only traces of slush in the roadway, thanks to it being so close to the Potomac and DC. Meanwhile, places in the VA Piedmont (e.g. Middlesburg) and Skyline Drive and beyond got up to 8 inches of snow.

Generally, south of Rt. 50 it is rain, and north of it it gets mixed up, but the "tongue"rules the Potomac up to North DC to cut down on amounts. Baltimore suburbs are reporting around 4 inches of snow now.

Major differences inside and outside beltway

I measured between 3 and 5 inches in Centreville, VA (near IAD).

3 inches in driveway due to initial melting, 5 inches on trash can.

I work in DC, where there is a half inch on car tops and grass.

Looks like once you get 25 miles or more NW of the cities (DC, BWI and Philly) - it has been (or will be) mostly snow and sleet. That is a good sign for my area, so I am hoping for at least 3 inches of snow by this afternoon.
