What does the Thursday storm look like for the Childress WF Amarillo region? I know the NWS as added chance pops to the forecast for Childress. Will that storm be to far south? I read in another thread that the GFS had the storm north by 120(i think) miles compared to yesterday. I've got to think that's a better solution for snow in my area right?

Well, yes the Low pressure system is further north so of course you pop chances will be higher  I will give you a full update and region to region breakdown when I have more time, and as we get closer to the event and have a better idea on whats going on. But snow accumulation totals will be higher just north of the low track, whichlooks to be around Dallas Fort Worth so the Highest totals probably won't pass north of the red River. However you will see alot of moisture and precip out of this, just not as long or to the intesity rates that DFW will get, BUT your temperatures there will be colder and for a longer time, so your precip type will be mostly snow as for DFW we will start as rain then turn to snow at some point...

Will any of the precip falling right now in north Texas turn into the frozen variety?

Serenta, possibly, later. As the backside develops and heads our way, before midnight but after sunset, as temps drop to the mid to upper 20's.

...WINTRY WEATHER EXPECTED WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT...

ANOTHER STORM SYSTEM WILL APPROACH THE AREA BY MIDWEEK BRINGING A
CHANCE FOR SNOW AND A WINTRY MIX WITH IT. WHILE THERE IS STILL
SOME UNCERTAINTY AS TO THE SPEED AND TRACK OF THE EVOLVING
SYSTEM...WHICH COULD SIGNIFICANTLY AFFECT THE THERMAL PROFILE FOR
SNOW PRODUCTION...OVERALL CONFIDENCE IN THIS STORM SYSTEM
CONTINUES TO INCREASE. AS THE PRECIPITATION BEGINS TO FALL
WEDNESDAY NIGHT WITH SURFACE TEMPERATURES NEAR OR SLIGHTLY BELOW
FREEZING...A MIX OF RAIN AND SNOW IS EXPECTED. HOWEVER...A CHANGE
OVER TO ALL SNOW APPEARS HIGHLY POSSIBLE DURING THE DAY ON
THURSDAY NORTH OF A LINE FROM KILLEEN TO WACO TO ATHENS.

AREAS NORTH OF A KILLEEN TO WACO TO ATHENS LINE APPEAR TO HAVE
THE BEST CHANCE FOR ACCUMULATING SNOWS DURING THE DAY THURSDAY.
TEMPERATURES AT THE SURFACE WILL BE AT OR SLIGHTLY ABOVE FREEZING
AT THE ONSET OF THE EVENT...WHICH MEANS THAT SNOW WILL LIKELY MELT
INITIALLY...THEN ACCUMULATE AS HEAVIER BANDS DEVELOP. AT THIS TIME
IT APPEARS THAT ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE.
UNCERTAINTY IN THE EXACT TRACK AND SPEED OF THIS SYSTEM COULD
SIGNIFICANTLY AFFECT SNOWFALL ACCUMULATION TOTALS.

SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS COULD OCCUR THURSDAY NIGHT AS TEMPERATURES
FALL BACK BELOW FREEZING. THIS COULD RESULT IN ICY ROAD
CONDITIONS DUE TO RESIDUAL WATER FREEZING ON THE ROADWAYS. ICY
ROADS WOULD LIKELY PERSIST INTO FRIDAY MORNING.

RESIDENTS OF NORTH TEXAS AND MOTORISTS TRAVELING ACROSS THE
REGION ON THURSDAY SHOULD STAY INFORMED OF THE LATEST WEATHER
INFORMATION AND FORECASTS BY VISITING OUR WEBSITE AT

Is this thread dead? Does anybody have a grip on whats going to happen next week? The GFS shows a good area of precip on towards the middle to the end of next week. The AMA AFD has added slight rain/snow chances for this Friday. Anybody think these chances could improve? Also, I know some think the models aren't handling the situation very well . I think its going to get cold again but wondered if a wetter or drier scenario plays out? I know somebody has an educated guess they wouldn't mind throwing out. Thanks

Peanut432, you've asked several times for people to update this thread. It appears that this thread isn't being used much, so why not go to the thread where people are regularly discussing Texas winter weather? There's a lot of info being posted there. Feel free to ask questions in either thread... I just think you might have better luck in the main Texas thread. Like the SE TX/SW LA thread, this thread is area specific and a lot of the people discussing possible winter weather events are from all over the state, and therefore post more often in the general Texas thread.

Or, the Southern Plains thread may be a better bet for someone in Hollis, OK.
