Upslope Snow 21-22

The GFS 12z and 18z is showing arctic air coming down from Canada with a low pressure developing in the Texas panhandle and its shows denver with highs in the 20s alongs with 1" of precipation if the gudiance turns out to be correct Denver could be looking at a foot of snow for Thanksgiving with snow measured in feet up toward the divide.

I expect something more like 5-10 inches in the metro area...given the senarios that GFS keeps coming up with. However...I never say never with Denver snows. The GFS called the christmas blizzard last year 6 days in advance...only to back down to a meager 4-8 inch storm 96-72 hours out. It came back around in the days right before. I expect to see some flip flops. Euro splits the moisture with some in the SW and some in CO...while GFS gives a more consistent storm from midday tuesday to wednesday night flurries. We shall see....one thing is for for fairly certain...>Turkey day in denver will be cold...and its quite likely to have snow on the ground...just remains to be seen whether the snow is measured in inches or feet.

my best advice is stay tune if this storm turns out as the model guidance expects this will cause travel problems from the airways to the roadways and the busiest travel day of the year is the day before thanksgiving and the Sunday after thanksgiving when everyone returns to work on Monday.

so mcuh for thanksgiving snow...if 18 z GFS were to verify now we in Denver have a shot at some light flurries and clouds tuesday eve/wednesday ....but no storm in sight

Forecast is for rain on Tuesday then flurries for Wed for Denver. Thats just too bad, and the ski resorts are still going to have to delay opening. Maybe mother nature is saving up for another repeat of last year's December blizzard!!

if we can get to east winds to upslope againist the rockies i see feet up on the divide they need it not only for the ski resort but more imporantly water usage
