Big Temp Difference for SE Florida vs Rest of State

Well, the Gulf stream is certainly protecting SE metro Florida from Jupiter and W Palm Beach south to Miami tonight with the current synoptic setup allowing strong winds to blow off the Atlantic. Unbelievable temperature differences. Drive east across alligator alley and the temperature rises about 20 degrees.

W coast of FL:
Tampa 45F
Sarasota 46F

SE Coast of Florida:

The reason is strong NNE to NE winds are blowing across the gulf stream and protecting Southeast florida from the cold snap the rest of the state and country for that matter is seeing....

For sure....temp here in Fort Lauderdale has actually been rising since this afternoon now that the winds have a more easterly component.....doubt we will drop below 65 tonight....looks like this front didn't have the right dynamics to drive the coldest air down this way....the weekend wil be cool, but certainly not frigid....highs in the low 70s and lows in the lows 60s. Brrr!!!
