Dare We Hope?

#1 Postby Aslkahuna » Mon Jan 23, 2006 7:59 pm

There has been an important development with the ULL that was supposed to be a strictly inside slider dry event for AZ. The ULL has wound up some 400 miles SW of where the models call for it to do so (a good example of why we don't like computer models down here) and has a chance of picking up moisture and bringing rain to parts of AZ if it sits in place and then lifts out across AZ Wednesday night as currently expected. Showers and thunderstorms are possible if this happens. The amount of rain and mountain snow (if we get any) will be dependent upon the track and timing of this system. Time to cross the fingers, and toes and any other appendages and maybe wash the car and hang out the wash.

400 miles is quite a displacement. Anxious to see how that effects all other entities down the road. Is an Omega block setting up to cause this SW movement of the ULL?

I hope you guys get some rain/snow. You guys REALLY need it. Has Flagstaff or Phoenix even had measurable precip at all this winter? I think Phoenix has a couple of more days to go to break the record for the longest dry streak ever. I'll be crossing my fingers. :)

You know what the most probable situation is???

We here in PHX get 0.01 inches of rain, enough to break the streak (at 95 days now I think), and then go another 3 or 4 months without rain...

Sooner, you may be right since this is progged to be mostly a SE AZ event. Strangely the record for most consecutive days with no rain at the house is 100 days but we we've had 0.09 in of rain since October so we aren't there this time around.
