Snowstorm on Monday?

#1 Postby WaitingForSiren » Thu Jan 12, 2006 8:32 pm

I live in Minnesota, and it looks like a snowstorm MIGHT be possible for Monday. Low pressure moving out of the southwest overrunning a big dome of cool air thanks to a cold front sweeping down from canada. This looks like the first REAL snowstorm set-up for us this year. we've had plenty of snow this season, to be honest, but it has all come from west-east storms, and none of those "colorado lows" or "panhandle" storms. So, what does everyone else think?

are you talking about Texas panhandle hookers? those snowstorms usually happen in late february/march... they acually originate in New Mexico and dump snow on the New Mexico mountains and the Texas Panhandle then brush snow on north texas and oklahoma and dump snow on the midwest and bring heavy snow to minnesota, especcially southern Minnesota. alot of areas in the south plains/southwest and midwest (about as far north as minneapolis) get the most snow in february and march because of the cold low pressure systems that form in the New Mexico and Colorado Mountains.....

Yeah, that is what I meant. We havent had one of those for a long time...last one i remember is march 4 2004. I guess now that i look at it the set-up isnt going to be that of a panhandle storm, but oh well, looks like we may get snow out of it still.
