Hey Sunny...
MF Dolphin - I just left Group St. Pete in July '03 for "beautiful" Washington DC - you know, cherry blossoms and car jackings ... I wasn't scheduled to rotate from this billet until 2006, but I'm in the running for a Station Commanding Officer job in Monterey, CA. Current CO had to depart early, so there was an unexpected vacancy...we're keeping all fingers crossed until Friday. If that doesn't pan out (it's THE most competitive Station assignment for a LT in the entire CG) I'll wait it out until '06 and then shoot for St. Pete again...My daughter misses St. Pete Beach.
Speaking of beer...What I miss the most about St. Pete was the Windjammer Club we had on base (the Group down on Bayboro Hbr). Absolute real estate "gem" in the middle of downtown... full bar, large dining area, patio, nice pool, tiki hut, deck/fishing pier. The local Bud distributor sponsored our Superbowl Party when Chucky and the Bucs took all in '03...ahh the memories...

As the bio stated, I might have been slated for Monterey...close but no cigar - didn't get the job. Good news is that now, I won't be out of the "S2K loop" during July and August while I await shipment of household goods.
I'm sorry. Then there is something better waiting for you just around the corner

New London maybe...that was the purpose of my 2nd, 3rd 4th opinion thread. I apply for the position this fall, but for these jobs the planning and "positioning" starts now. Those were all 3-year station CO jobs I'm eligible for this fall...fingers are staying crossed 'til then.
