Thankfully it ran out of water. Another storm strengthening all the way in.

Also, and I forgot to mention it my other post, I'm wondering if this isn't going to pulse up tonight.

I’m glad it ran out of time. After Hurricane Michael here in the Panhandle, I have seen first hand what happens when a storm has that extra 24 hours over water.

Hanna had to had been a Cat.2 at landfall. Maybe post-analysis will upgrade?

I haven't seen any conclusive data supporting it.

With that good of a core and outflow, and with SSTs of up to 30 C, even 18 more hours over water would’ve easily brought Hanna to Category 4 status. I have a feeling we might actually see a Cat 4 storm in the Gulf this year, but for now the Gulf Coast has been spared.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

My condolences to you both. Words are just so meaningless, especially from a stranger but I sympathize with the range of emotions you both are experiencing and your loss that can never be replaced.

It's maintaining her presentation so well, I think it will reach México as a hurricane

The northern part of the eyewall is gone from radar. I have a feeling the intermediate advisory will downgrade Hanna to a 60 kt tropical storm.

And it did. Down to 60 kt now. I’ve been asleep and just woke up to see all that rain still off the coast. Flooding may end up being substantial when all is said and done.

As far as a bump up to cat 2, the only data I have seen supporting it is brief radar echoes which were likely transient. Hence, I believe the 80 kt operational landfall intensity is accurate. Otherwise I just play catch up with the Recon gaps.
