Winds have really picked up now. Its non-stop howling outside! About 75% of the island is without power. My work were saying that we had to work tomorrow but at least they have finally seen some sense and cancelled it!

Think about that for a moment.

I will second all that you said jahja! I believe this storm has given (is still giving) some of the worst storm surge in a long time! Tomorrow will tell.
Our power went out at 2200, at least the BB is still working, going to bed, take care all and thanks again for your thoughts.

Thanks to everyone for their concerns, it's not over yet but soon. I think a lot of the damage will be surge related. Almost 20,000 without power, and a few injuries.
The east end seems to have made it through better then expected, though I just heard the tender Bermudian broke her chains in St, Georges harbor and is now on the rocks!
I know of a few people who chose to ride out the storm in their boats...............I hope they are okay as I fear quite a few are damaged or worse.
Will find out tomorrow the full extent of the damage...............

Riding out a hurricane in a boat doesnt seem like a good idea. I remember seeing boats get destroyed in hurricane Ike. Hopefully they are okay.

Last 6 hours of obs from Bermuda. The NHC must be converting the winds from 10-min to 1-min values to get hurricane force sustained winds last hour.

How are things where you are Jahja?

Things where i am are ok. Thank God still have power. I just finished watching kiss of the dragon with the wife! I went outside earlier on before the winds were as strong as they are not and I could barely stand. As I said before it will be interesting to see which, if any, of Bermuda's beaches are left! It seems to be just alot of wind at the moment and not much rain. There's also reports of tornados but i havent seen as pics or anything yet! If i do get any from friends I will be sure to post!

Hope everyone in Bermuda is okay. I can attest what it is like going through a large hurricane like Igor. Been through Ike. It was no picnic.
