Irene 1999 was the last tropical storm to hit Maine, before that Josphine 1996. The last hurricane to hit was Bob 1991.

If this goes 50 miles west of the nhc track this will hit as a hurricane to.

How able to handle a hurricane is maine???

Irene went nowhere near Maine, Matt

The last TS in Maine was Bob in 1991 (weakened while crossing MA)

You're confusing the tracks of Irene and Floyd. Floyd became XT as it reached Maine.

Floyd threatened Maine not Irene.

Don't match it with the remnants of Floyd:

Looked at 11 am track. Looks good for me... hope it verifies, I don't want Hurricane Force winds. Feel bad for New Brunswick if they get the full brunt.

My Aunt lives in coastal Maine, but, just south of the border with New Brunswick, so, guess I'll give them a call today...

Still, the ocean temps are pretty cool up there (very cool, actually), so, it shouldn't be much worse than the weather they deal with during the late Fall and Winter...

Eh?

I'm worried though, that because the storm is extremely one sided, I'll still get some very strong winds for a prolonged period of time. Some pro met should chime in on what Nova Scotia should expect.

The Gulf of Maine waters are very cool - it drops off quickly around 40-42N. A track farther east into Nova Scotia puts it into warmer waters longer.

The 11 am Disco mentions that the track is to the right of the GFDL and HWRF. That isn't exactly encouraging.

A hurricane watch will likely be needed in parts of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia by 2 pm (those are issued by the Canadian Hurricane Centre).

I believe Edouard in 1996 was the last time Maine was under a hurricane watch
