According to the SNET (Salvadoran oceanic service) a variation of 1 meter can be experienced in the seas of our coasts at 9:30 am (that's in about 1 hour and 15 minutes).

El Salvador is under the tsunami warning indeed. The PTWC's estimated arrival time is 1531 UTC (also in about an hour and 15 minutes).

GREAT information so far guys and gals!

My prayers to the citizens of Chile and for any members that have friends and family there.

I pray that there won't be a tsunami catastrophe anywhere in the Pacific basin.

I had heard on CNN about Lake Ponchatrain's "sloshing". OMG!

They said it's a 3 meter wave which equals just under 10 feet for those of us that don't use the metric system.

Don't tsunamis actually grow as they move through the ocean?

I hope this turns out to be nothing like Haiti, and that any tsunamis generated that have not impacted land yet are tiny. Hawaii's impact will be quite interesting to follow, and hopefully their waves are less than a foot, though I have a feeling it'll be a lot bigger than that :(

that's what i was wondering too. Do they get larger as they gain momentum?

To an extent, but just like hurricanes they can dissipate energy too. The tsunamis that hit Africa in 2004 were far less damaging than those that hit India and Thailand.

it also depends upon how the land faces the waves.

Some islands, like La Reunion and Diego Garcia were not hit all that bad by the 2004 Tsunami as I recall. However, Somalia received a devastating wave
