Re: Invest 93B (Bay of Bengal)
BOB 0707 has formed.
BOB 07/2007/01 DATED: 21th September 2007,
Sub: Depression over westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal .
Morning’s well marked low pressure area over westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal concentrated into a depression and lay centred at 1730 hours IST of today, the 21st September 2007 over the same area near Lat. 18.0 Deg.N. and Long. 86.5 Deg. E, about 230 Km southsoutheast of Puri. The system is likely to intensify further and move in a northwesterly direction and cross orissa coast between Gopalpur and paradip by tomorrow the 22nd September 2007 forenoon.

Isolated extremely heavy falls ( 25 cm or more ) are also likely over south Orissa and north Andhra Pradesh during the same period.
Squally winds speed reaching 45-55 Kmph are likely along and off north Andhra Pradesh and Orissa coasts during next 24 hours.

AN AREA OF CONVECTION HAS PERSISTED NEAR 17.7N 86.6E,
APPROXIMATELY 180 NM EAST OF VISAKHAPATNAM, INDIA. ANIMATED
MULTISPECTRAL SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOWS A BROAD AREA OF TURNING
WITH MONSOON DEPRESSION CHARACTERISTICS. A 211512Z AMSU MICROWAVE
PASS SHOWS A DEVELOPING LOW LEVEL CIRCULATION CENTER (LLCC) IN
THE WESTERN PORTION OF THE LARGER AREA. THE AMSU MICROWAVE PASS
ALSO SHOWS CONVECTIVE BANDING WRAPPING INTO THE AREA FROM THE
NORTHERN AND WESTERN QUADRANTS. UPPER LEVEL ANALYSIS INDICATES
THE PRESENCE OF AN ANTICYCLONE NEAR THE FORMING LLCC, WITH LOW TO
MODERATE VERTICAL WINDSHEAR AND GOOD DIVERGENCE ALOFT FUELING THE
CONVECTION. DUE TO THE IMPROVING LLCC AND FAVORABLE UPPER LEVEL
ENVIRONMENT, THE POTENTIAL FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SIGNIFICANT
TROPICAL CYCLONE WITHIN THE NEXT 24 HOURS IS FAIR.

About 100 Bangladeshi fishermen are feared drowned after their boats sank during a storm in the Bay of Bengal.
Seamen who managed to return to shore reported seeing at least 10 fishing trawlers founder in the heavy seas, officials said.
Authorities say they cannot mount a search operation until the high winds and waves in the area subside.
Ferry services have been halted and hundreds of people in coastal areas evacuated due to the weather.
Local official Selim Khan told the Associated Press news agency that at least 50 fishermen were rescued by passing boats however, a number were seen to sink.
Mostafa Chowdhury, a spokesman for a trawler owners' association told the Associated Press news agency that a further 70 boats, with almost 840 crew, had not returned to port.
