Mid level circulation and low level circulation

#1 Postby boca » Tue Jul 31, 2007 10:52 pm

When looking at the IR sat can you tell the difference between mid and low level circulation? The reason why I bring this up is that Normandy said a couple of posts back in the 99L thread that it has a LLC now and last night it had a MLC. I can't tell the difference,is their a way to tell?

Without surface obs, it's almost impossible to differentiate between a MLC and a LLC, particularly on IR imagery (with weaker systems like 99L). I remember some systems over the past years that looked like tropical storms. Recon flew in and found no LLC.

Yes by IR Sat it is hard to tell the difference between a MLC or LLC.. That's why Observation's are a key point.. But there are some images you can see the LLC or MLC. But Boca is right....
