Subject: DEEP DEPRESSION OVER NORTHWEST AND ADJOINING WESTCENTRAL
BAY OF BENGAL

The deep depression over northwest and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal moved north-westwards and lay centred at 1430 hrs IST of today, the 28th June, 2007 over northwest and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal near lat. 19.00N and long. 86.50E, about 120 km southeast of Puri. It is likely to intensify further and move in a west-northwesterlly direction and cross Orissa coast between Gopalpur and Paradip, close to Puri by today, the 28th June 2007 mid-night.

Under its influence, widespread rainfall with scattered heavy to very heavy falls and isolated extremely heavy falls (>25 cms) are likely over north Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and Chattisgarh during next 48 hours.

Squally winds speed reaching 55-65 Kmph are likely along and off north Andhra Pradesh and Orissa coasts during the same period. Sea condition will be very rough to high.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea.

Not sure how they get a 24 hour position over land. Those coordinates are OVER WATER, and their track map shows the same. What is it with this basin?

Update on the last cyclone, 410 dead is now the death toll. 140 in India, 230 in Pakistan, and 40 in Afghanistan

I think we are seeing some serious RI, or possibly even EI with this system. It is not moving that much (last 3 fixes from SSD had about a whole 15NM of motion), so the equivalent of hurricane status may not be out of the realm of possibility

I have to give them credit for being consistent. Not upgrading either system that was (is) clearly at TS intensity (and not minimal TS either). Maybe Great One did get a job

I have a feeling that they'll never upgrade this one either. It seems a storm has to last a certain amount of hours to get upgraded. And it will probably make landfall in about 6 hr.

Sub: Deep Depression over northwest Bay of Bengal crossed Orissa

coast near Puri.





Available coastal observations indicate that the Deep Depression over northwest Bay of Bengal moved slightly northwards and lay centred at 0530 hrs IST very close to Puri and crossed Orissa coast near Puri between 0530 and 0630 hours IST of today, the 29th June 2007. It lay centred over coastal Orissa close to Puri at 0630 hrs IST. The system is likely to move in a west-northwesterly direction and weaken gradually.



Under its influence, widespread rainfall with scattered heavy to very heavy falls and isolated extremely heavy falls (>25 cms) are likely over north Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and Chhattisgarh during next 24 hours.



Squally winds speed reaching 55-65 kmph are likely along and off north Andhra Pradesh and Orissa coast during next 12 hours. Sea condition will be very rough to high.
