How large was Katrina's wind field?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

How large was Katrina's wind field?

#1 Postby logybogy » Sat Sep 03, 2005 10:41 pm

The three concentric eyewalls Katrina had are interesting to me.

Does anyone know how many miles from the Center the Cat 1, 2, 3, and 4 winds were?

Was there an abnormally large area of Cat 3 winds compared to other hurricanes with similar pressure? In Hurricane Andrew, for instance, Downtown Miami, maybe 25 miles north of where Andrew hit barely had sustained Cat 1 winds.
