Heavy Rain & Severe Gales Sat 14 Nov
There is a moderate risk of severe weather affecting parts of Wales and the southern half of England on Saturday. Severe gale force west to southwesterly winds bring the potential of gusts as high as 60 to 70 mph, which could bring large branches or even trees down. In addition to the wind some more falls of heavy rain are likely during the first half of Saturday, with further accumulations of 15 to 20 mm in places on top of already saturated ground.

This is a Severe Weather Warning issued by Metcheck at 18:11 on Thursday 12th November, replacing the Advanced Weather Warning that was issued on Tuesday 10th November.
A deepening area of low pressure is forecast to track north/north-eastwards across western parts of Britain and Ireland during Friday night and Saturday, bringing heavy rain and severe gales with it.
Heavy rain will move in across much of southern England during Friday, with the heaviest rain expected across south-western parts of England, Wales and Ireland by Friday afternoon. Rainfall totals of up to 2 inches (50mm) could fall in these areas during Friday afternoon and night. This rain will then move north and east to affect many areas during Friday night before clearing from the southwest.
During Friday night and Saturday, severe south-westerly gales gusting up to 75mph look set to develop across many southern coastal counties of England and Wales. Widespread gales will develop across inland areas of southern England too, with gusts of up to 65mph likely.
These conditions will result in hazardous travelling conditions, and some localised flooding may occur in areas where the land is saturated after recent rainfall. In addition, some damage to buildings and trees may occur in the worst of the severe gales.
This Severe Weather Warning will be updated as/when conditions warrant.
