Storm and mudslides for Switzerland

#1 Postby senorpepr » Wed Jan 14, 2004 2:42 am

A second major storm, accompanied by rain and snow, has hit parts of Switzerland.
Police said dozens of trees were uprooted and buildings slightly damaged in several regions of the country.
The strong winds temporarily cut power lines and rail services and a number of roads had to be closed.
A mudslide near Lake Brienz also destroyed bridges.
Weather services registered record winds of 200kmh (125mph) in the Alps, and up to 100kmh (60mph) in lower-lying regions of the country.
