Deep South Winter 2023-2024
National weather service in Jackson has issued a winter weather advisory for freezing rain and Sleet for tomorrow night in south central Ms and NWS In Mobile has issued an advisory for Southeast Ms and Southwest Al. Not a big fan of freezing rain, maybe the upper levels will end up colder than expected and it’ll be more sleet and some snow.

We have the same WWA here in SELA but I am not sure we will actually see anything in Baton Rouge, maybe areas to the north. I work across the river so wouldn’t be surprised if they called off Tuesday just to be safe because everyone has to cross the bridge to get to work (most of us live across the river).

I was looking over the forecast discussion in Jackson and Mobile earlier today and they were discussing the possibility of another disturbance with some decent moisture to work with coming through tomorrow night. Probably end up being nothing but maybe a surprise could happen.

Ended up getting a decent bit of freezing rain. Enough to coat everything in a thin layer of ice but not cause a bunch of problems. Got down to 18 at my house. Going to be even colder tonight. Haven’t gotten above freezing yet but I think we may just get above 32 for a few minutes before temps begin falling again. Drip those faucets, people!

Same here. Maybe we can cash in before this winter is over.BigB0882 wrote:Ended up getting a decent bit of freezing rain. Well, didn’t get above freezing Tuesday and got to 16.5 at my house last night. Extremely cold for our area. Would love for some snow but freezing rain is a winter wonderland this far south.
